I remember, years ago, talking to a Christian counselor who told me he’s convinced that, as a church, we have done a far better job understanding Christ’s death for us, than we have understood the implications of his resurrection. He went on to say that while he believes our reliance upon Jesus’ sacrificial death for our sins is foundational to our faith, he believes it is just as important to understand that God raised Jesus from the dead so that he could live his life through us.
Over the years, I’ve thought a lot about what he said. And once again, on this Monday after Resurrection Sunday, I am asking the Lord to let me grow in my awareness of what the Apostle Paul meant when he wrote, ‘If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you (Rom 8:11).
Am guessing that a lot of others share that same prayer this morning.
