Long before Jesus entered our world in the body of a Jewish infant, he left his fingerprints and signature all over monarch butterflies, horses, oak trees and salamanders.
Ages before Jesus turned water into wine and spoke peace to the churning waters of Galilee, he painted color, life, and ecological balance into a stunning interdependence of plants, animals, and insects.
A friend of Jesus named, John, described the link between the creation of Genesis and Jesus of Nazareth when he wrote:
In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. He was in the beginning with God. He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn’t make… But although the world was made through him, the world didn’t recognize him when he came. Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God…So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father” (John 1:1-14)
Because the Bible makes so much of the relationship between the Creator and his world, I’d like to introduce you to the launch of a sister blog– and Website– WonderofCreation.org.
The site is being hosted by Dean Ohlman, a friend and co-worker of mine who will be encouraging us to take a closer look at a world wonderfully created by none other than the one who– to rescue us from ourselves– allowed himself to be nailed to a tree of his own making.
