Never got the last winter storm that was supposed to materialize today. Instead we got a lot of rain and a flood watch. The Grand River, for which our town is named (Grand Rapids, MI), has developed an ice jam and backed up to flood stage. Now the wind is kicking up and the temperature is dropping again.
Since we are not in a flood plain, looks like we’re going to be able to settle in for a quiet Christmas Eve.
It’s also a good time to let you know how much I appreciate your interest in the community of this blog. From our conversations of the last few months I know that we are experiencing a wide range of wonderful and difficult circumstances in this Christmas season of 2008. So whether you have occasion to share the joys of friends and family, or just praying to endure the night, here’s a Christmas Card link to a song titled “Mary Did You Know?” that has resonated at different times with both my joys and hurts.
Some of you probably have known it for a long time, but I stumbled onto this version by Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd a couple of years ago. Since I’m not as cultured as some of you :-), I’d have to say that this is my all time favorite Christmas song. Can’t get over the power of the lyrics composed by Mark Lowry and the hauntingly moving melody and rendition by Rogers and Judd.
Here’s the link. For some reason when I opened it with my Firefox browser the music didn’t load. But worked fine for me with Internet Explorer.

Merry Christmas! and Peace!
