Raining in Jerusalem

Made the flight from Grand Rapids to Tel Aviv in good shape. Plane was packed. Got a seat in the middle of the middle of a 777. Sat next to a young Jewish mother with three very small children. Youngest was less than 2. Don’t know how she survived the trip (the mother, I mean) Must have gotten up and down a hundred times to help her children.

Woke up at 2:30 this morning because of time change. But had enough rest. Sort of. Besides, today was my day to not have to work and just get adjusted.

Met the rest of our team for breakfast. They’ve been working here for a week now with Michael Rydelnik, Professor of Jewish studies at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Michael did a video series for us in which he told his own personal, “My Search for Messiah.” I think it’s a very compelling video, and can be streamed from our dod.org website.

Was raining, windy, and cold in Jerusalem when we left the hotel, so decided to head east, down, and south to EnGedi along the western bank of the Dead Sea. When it’s raining in Jerusalem we usually have a chance of getting some sunshine in the Jordan Valley.

When we reached EnGedi, it was windy but not raining. So I got a chance to look for some wildlife in a dry stream bed while Michael and the team worked on the rest of his video on the covenant God made with David. EnGedi, as many of you know, means “Spring of the mountain goat” and is a place that David hid from King Saul who wanted to kill him (1Samuel 23:29-24:1).

As you can see, I saw at least one Ibex (mountain goat) and a coney. Actually saw some baby Ibexes too and our team saw some baby conies (see Proverbs 30:26). Also got a picture of a really big three legged Ibex that was getting along. But figured that might be more than you want to see.

It actually rained a bit in the valley which is something I’ve never seen before. But am guessing no one in Israel was complaining except us tourists. Was told that the water level in the country’s reservoir is at a critical low and they have stopped pumping water out of the Galilee which is Israel’s main water supply. We’re planning to get up to the Galilee in a few days. Will try to get some pictures of the water level.

Actually saw evidence of the drought even in the Dead Sea area. Have never seen it so low. Huge expanses of dry land where we usually see far more water at the worlds lowest spot. As we drove along, did catch this bad picture though of a sign that made us smile. It says, “Danger of Drowning” and is supposed to be on the shore of the Dead Sea. But as you may be able to see, there is nothing but dry ground on this stretch.

OK, I know this is getting a bit long. Here’s one more picture which shows that the weather actually cleared for us while we were at the Dead Sea. We considered it a provision from the Lord and Michael and the team were able to get a good day of “shooting” in. I like Michael’s approach to content and presentation. He knows the Scriptures and is very clear in his presentation.

Jimmy DeYoung is in the country doing a tour. He left me a phone message, but haven’t seen him yet.

Tomorrow we are scheduled to put Michael together with two other men who, also have Jewish roots, while being followers of Jesus.

PS Have to show you one more picture of either an Israeli geyser, or volcano. You’ll have to tell me. Well actually it was a funny shaped cloud that I caught just at the right moment. Actually do have things to do. Tomorrow should be a busier day… :-)…

Mart, Glad to see you all company arrived safely. Love the pictures. Don’t have goats and conies out in my back yard.

I have seen Michael Rydelink’s work before. Top notch stuff. I am looking forward to this series.

Glad you made it safely! The pictures are great. Though not liked when you have things to accomplish, the rain in Israel is much needed. The sky and weather are a bit different from what we’re used to in Iowa!

Robert, I left a note about the red thread for you on the previous site.

    mtman, miss you.

As someone not well traveled, the pictures and comments help me fill in the blanks of what I have only been able to read about in text books and see on maps. I am looking foward to the rest of your trip. Thanks for being willing to communicate it.

    Mart,

Glad your having a good time, praying for your teams safety.

    Mart,
Enjoyed your humor about the Israeli volcano/geysher. Keep looking for the humor in Israel. We all need a upbeat news from that part of the world once in a while.

Glad to hear you’ll be sticking around. Hope you’re sorting things out with God’s hellp. I usually only post myself when I have a point to add that no one else has made, which isn’t very often because the people here are very sharp and generally don’t miss a thing.

Thanks for the update Mart; and the great pics. My God bless you and the team and the work you have before you. He will watch over all of you.

Couldn’t help but think a little strange thought about your opening paragraph. You flew over on a 777 and had a pleasant trip. But many people in the end days will take a trip on a “666” and the result will be horrible. May the Lord richly bless you and all at RBC for the work you do and for those who have heard the Gospel through your ministries and “cancelled their ticket” on 666 and came to Christ.

It has been awhile since I have joined in due to the busyness of my studies, but I have occasionally been keeping track of this forum. What has prompted me to comment here is not directly related to today’s topic, but rather addresses a combination of the last few topics, and may be an idea for a future theme.

In my theology class yesterday, we were discussing ecclesiology and the question about whether or not the church today is the new “Israel of God”, as some people suggest. In the past, our prof has stated his views on Jews as being the people of God and that Christians are grafted into that family of God, much like a branch is grafted into a tree. Therefore, he rejects the notion that the Christian church today replaces the Jews as God’s people, but rather that we simply join them as such. His biblical support for this view that all Israel will be saved comes from Romans 11:25-26,

25 I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ. 26 And so all Israel will be saved. As the Scriptures say,
“The one who rescues will come from Jerusalem,
and he will turn Israel away from ungodliness.

This is Paul writing, and he is not quoting Jesus (the Been Thinking About topic a few days ago). In fact, he seems to contradict what Jesus said to the Jews as recorded in John 10:26, “But you don’t believe me because you are not my sheep” and in John 8:47, “But you don’t listen because you don’t belong to God”.

How do we reconcile these passages of Scripture? As you are traveling in Israel, Mart, do you have the sense that you are joining the people that you see there as “the family of God”? Do you have the sense that “all Israel will be saved”? Or what does that mean?

  8. SFDBWV says:

sawaybon, My thoughts on your subject this morning are that Jesus, when speaking to the religious leaders of Israel usually placed blame and condemnation upon them. As it was their responsibility to keep the law and be shepherds to the people.

However God saw their failure as recorded, in part, in Ezekiel 34:10 “Thus saith the Lord God; Behold I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the sheperds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they not be meat for them.”
:11For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.”

Continued reading shows God Himself will do the work the Priests were suppose to do. So Jesus is angry with these “holy” men but not the people (flock).

In my opinion, there is a literal Israel ascribed to and spoken to and about in the Scripture, But there is also a “flock of sheep that belongs to the shepherd”. We are thoes whom God speaks of and to whom Christ died for and to whom has promise from Christ. Yet there is also an endtime clock placed about the neck of the people and nation of Israel. God will keep his promises to Abraham concerning his children. But during the time of grace, all believers are God’s children and recipients of the promises.

Right now there is no difference between Jew and Gentile. We are all given grace and an opprotunity to accept Jesus as the Christ.

After the rapture of this body called the Church, the time table and attention is placed again upon the Jew and the nation of Israel.

This is of course my own thoughts on the matter. Learning as I grow.

Reading your Raining in Jerusalem reminds me of my trip to the Holy Land in ’95. I loved it and miss the time spent there. I would love to go back. thank you for sharing pics and info. I am new on the site as of today; therefore, am learning how to do all this. I hope to be on here regularly. I read my RBC Daily Bread almost everyday and it speaks to my heart.
Have a most wonderful ministry trip (what is your purpose there?). I will pray for you and your team.
    God Bless

Unlike the poor mother it seems like you enjoyed quite an uneventful flight. I know I did pray for God to guard you all from sunstroke…didn’t expect the answer would be… rain! Loved the pics— especially the Coney and the Ibex… However, my personal fav is your tricky “geyser/volcano”… I really don’t mind stretching my imagination a little farther than that and say: When the children of Israel left Egypt after the hasty Passover meal, God led them as a “Pillar of Cloud”. Mart, you actually caught a glimpse of that unique phenomenon even before the Passover celebrations have begun:) it is indeed a privilege to be assured of God’s presence!! Thanks for sharing…

I’m a new user of this web site and am thrilled to be able to hear from you. I do receive your dvd’s and enjoy them! Thank-you so much for sharing.I’m 70 years old so this computer is new to me also!!!!!Peggy

  13. sawaybon says:

Bob and Steve, thank you very much for your helpful responses. The seminary I attend used to be “Dispensational”, but has moved over more to a “Covenantal” position. The particular professor that I referred to said that he was grateful that, as an institution, the seminary had moved away from the “Dispensationalism” position. My background and training is more of that persuasion, so I guess that is what is throwing me off. Even though these things are interesting and not essential, I still find them somewhat distressing.

  14. SFDBWV says:

sawaybon, Just a little note. I heard Billy Graham say once that if he believed everything they told him in Seminary, he would never have entered the evangelical ministry…I am glad Billy allowed the Holy Spirit to lead and to teach him, and give him discernment.

  15. Robert Slone says:

Laurielee, I looked at the book that you gave me the address to on the internet. It really describes what I remember, but I’m not sure it is the same one. I was trying to find the Psalm that I was talking about and pulled out a Thompson study Bible that my Dad gave to me years ago and it listed numerous places in the Psalms that refer to Christ. I guess I will just have to read the whole whole Book of Psalms and will be good for me to boot. I’ve been needing to sit and read cover to cover in order again.
Thanks, you have given me a blessing, too.
    Robert

  16. Robert Slone says:

    Sawaybon,
As has been stated by a couple of others, the Church will be raptured (I believe), but in chapter 7 of the Revelation 144,000 Jews are sealed with God’s seal in their forehead (King James Version), 12,000 from each tribe. Then when Satan is thrown out of the heavens to the earth, the first thing Satan does is to try to destroy God’s remnant left on earth, Revelation, chapter 12. Maybe this helps?

  18. sjd says:

In regards to Paul not quoting Jesus much. Figured I would just post here before I head out the door. I think poohpity mentioned we didn’t spend a lot of time there.

Galatians 1:15-18 speaks of Paul’s education by the Lord. After his conversion he had instruction from the Lord in Arabia. So Paul’s teaching was directly influenced by this three year period of time. Paul had direct contact from the Lord unlike the other Apostles. His teaching would be without the need for direct quotes from the times Jesus was walking on the earth with the others. But his teaching was still from the Lord and was with the purpose more of explaining as we have mentioned earlier. Paul’s words do not contradict our Lord’s which many are trying to say it does. Part of their argument is that Paul is writing another Gospel since he does not quote Jesus. Yet his teaching fits so well with our Lord’s.
We did not get a first hand look at this instruction of Paul’s, nor of the vision that Paul had of Paradise that we read about in 2 Corinthians 12. But we do see and hear the effect that Jesus had on this former persecutor of our Lord, and we see how Christ can live in and through someone committed to Him. We have the Gospels to share the words of our Lord. The Bible is a beautiful unified book fitting together so perfectly.

  19. poohpity says:

    sjd,

I think it is also pertinent that because Paul was a Pharisee and knew the Law so well, grace was understood to the Nth degree. With the time Paul had away for that time I believe he was able to understand how the law pointed to Christ and His fulfillment of it.

I read one commentator that said it was 13 years and not just the 3, I have always known it to be the 3. It seems like Paul took the principles and applied it to the problems that were arising in the beginning church. Just some thoughts.

I believe that the 7 books that the Catholic Church still have did not have that common stream. It probably would have been better to state that as a question rather than a matter of fact because I am not sure about that. I have read 1 and 2 Maccabees and Judith but that is all.

  20. SFDBWV says:

Deborah, Read Tobit in the Catholic Bible. I loved the story, I especially liked the wedding night prayer, and I seen a thread to the Pharisee’s and Sadducee’s argument to which of the 7 brothers the wife belonged to in heaven.

  21. plumbape says:

    Hi Kids,
Mart thank you so much for all you and RBC do to enlighten the masses. Love the pictures which will be the only way I will see Isreal. I was stuck for a few days considering what brother mtman has decided and why. I could not really understand what he was expecting and why he would take offense with someone that might misrepresent his opinion. Doing self examination is what this blog allows for in a blessed way. Praying for his return.
Once again the Ape in Indy is confused…!? You mean the Catholics have a different Bible, with seven more books? Catholics are Christians are they not? Have they added to the Holy Bible or has someone left out of the same Bible? This is a first for me, can someone help me out please.

  22. SFDBWV says:

Michael, yes the Bible which the Catholics use has moore books. The rest is the same. It appears that the protestants omited the other 5 books for reasons they felt worthy. A part of the reformation and seperation from the Roman Catholic Churcch.

I bought a catholic bible at a local christian book store and am glad I did.

But I don’t agree with the other books that have come to light as forgotten or hidden books. Such as the agnostic writtings. I feel they are not true nor inspired and in most cases just fraudulent. Perhaps some of the books mentioned by paul as false.

  23. poohpity says:

Hi ape, my buddy, my pal. At one time I became very curious about how the bible got to be the bible so I read a book called “A stranger on the road to Emmaus” for starters. It was very eye opening. It tells about the bible and how it came to be. That was after I had read through the bible several times so I had the foundation but I was curious about other things. The bible is also not in chronological order and that is how I read it now. It is neat even after a lot of research you still know that it is the living Word because I am still learning and it still is changing me.

I wish it would change me quicker but that is my problem of wanting everything so quickly but it takes time. I was wondering if everybody would pray for me I have a lot of confusion about what my next step is. I have not healed from my surgery totally but I need to work and my mom is starting to be very confused and is in more pain, so I know she has not got long. This is about the hardest thing I have ever went through watching someone die of cancer.

Hey everybody have a wonderful day and I love you.

  24. daisymarygoldr says:

poohpity, you are so right about the Bible which is God’s living word! It is the same living word that became flesh and gave us life. In his devotional message on Psalm 33 the Pastor at church put it very beautifully. He said that the written word is just as equally powerful as the spoken word of God. In the beginning God created the physical world with His spoken word. Today God is once again making new life by creating us anew in His image through the written word! Just like you I also wished it was instantaneous but we do know that it is a process…the more we read and feed on God’s word, the more we learn…and the more we do accordingly, the more we are getting transformed… So, poohpity do not lose heart, because though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day (2 Cor 4:16). Praying for you and your mother…I love you too:)

Robert Slone, have your started reading the Psalms yet? If you did…then you will soon come across the crucifixion one! I can tell it to you right away, but you will really make yourself proud if you read through and find it out for yourself:)

  25. SFDBWV says:

Deborah, Dear sister, I have watched a lot of people I love suffer and die. I hurt for you. But God is faithful to walk with you through it. Mere words from folks like me won’t erase your pain, but it does help to know someone cares.

We all want God to answer our prayers now and fix all our worries. It takes strong faith to be a Christian, my prayers are offered up for you and your family. I wish you lived next door.

    Steve

  26. poohpity says:

Thank you DMG very, very much.

You know Steve I have longed to have a male come into my life that I could depend on for strength and protection as you are for your family. I admire you so much. I know you understand my pain because of what you have went through. I wish you lived near too a hug would be nice. It would be nice just to be held by someone but while I do not have someone with skin on I will continue to hug my pillow and feel as if I am in the arms of our Lord.

I feel so blessed by everyone on this site. We all have our battles but it is a lot easier when we can stand together in love for support.

  27. Robert Slone says:

Yes, Daisy, I found it. The part that always stuck in my mind was, “my bones are out of joint.”

  28. Laurielee says:

Pooh, I, too, am praying for you, actually for all of you every night. It is SO hard to watch someone dying of cancer. This Sunday we’ll have my little sister’s birthday party, as we do the last Sunday of March.(Her birthday would have been Mar 31.) As she came closer to the Lord and her time to fly away, she comforted everyone else! In the place where she was, they finally put her in a room by herself so she’d quit doing for everyone.
I’m on my own, too…out of choice. I know that when others are talking of the headship in marriage, a single person tends to feel left out and sometimes WISHES there was a male head to look to for a help mate and companionship. Pooh, if the wrong one were with you, it would be worse than being alone. Lack of hugs, care, and human touch can really make the burden heavy at times, I know. I know it doesn’t help with the “skin on” times that you need others this side of heaven, but I look to Jesus as the Head of my household. Times come along, like the day before yesterday for me, that a problem comes up and we can’t see to the other side of it, but Jesus has never let me down. I have an old car that I dumped all my savings into 3 weeks ago to fix. It broke down again, this time the alternator, and I just had to have it towed home till I could figure out what to do. The first thing I did was pray. (I’m not sure any other car has had prayers as often as this one has!) A friend that lives in another state called me last night, said he received a huge bonus, and that the car would be taken care of. I thanked this friend, but I know that it was another Friend that took care of it.
If hugs could be sent, I’d send one especially to you. I know you’ve had such a hard time of it and have a heavy load to bear. I pray that your burden is lightened by the Hand of the Father and that He will help you to feel the care that is sent to you from us.

  29. plumbape says:

Poohpity> I’m right there with you kiddo! My mom passed from lung cancer two weeks after 9/11/01. My oldest sister had came from Virginia Beach for the last 6 six months, her name is Deborah also! Year before my sister Pam at 45 had a stroke unexpected and died. The following year my Dad eased out of natural causes while in the nursing home and 2 months after my older brother over dosed on methadone.I went to deal with Dad and brother. Not sure why I’m saying all this but it helps to talk, I guess. Through it all I was brought closer and closer to the Lord and face to face with what is really important in life. Loving God and loving others as God loves me. Even the rude offensive ones, I smile and try to say something encouraging while mentioning Jesus loves them. I have a boy and girl twins and when I think of the Father loving us no good people so much to be willing to separate with his only Son and watch as he was mocked, beaten and put to death to give us the opportunity to be saved I am renewed in hope every day and filled with awe!! Amen
I pray for you and mom, play some music and try to be at peace because the Lord will be with you always.
    Love you all
    Michael

Thanks Steve, the hits just keep on coming with this Christian walk!

  30. poohpity says:

    ape,
I have missed your love and compassion so much. So glad you are back. Boy my brother have you ever had your fill. Thank you for sharing your heart and loss you are in my heart and prayers.

    Laurielee,
I also thank you for sharing and the hugs are felt and sent back. I have always been a single parent and so I do not know any different but when I gave up custody of my daughter to my parents they had me thinking that I could not be a good parent. The Lord allowed me to be alone with His help to realize I was capable of being not only a single parent but a good one. In that I was able to learn so much that now I know that whenever I do meet someone the relationship that develops will be healthy rather than dysfunctional. So like Romans 8:28 says all things turn out for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

One of my neighbors called us last night, she is asking for prayer for her sister that lives in North Dakota. Her sister’s name is Mona.

Mona’s house was destroyed by the last floodwaters, and although she is in her 70’s she is saying she will not leave her home again and come back to nothing.

So she is staying put,she figures if her house goes so will she.

Prayers are needed for her and all the suffering people effected by this flood of water and ice.

    Mart:
The Holy Land is on the top of my list of places I would like to visit. That will never happen, so I’m happy to be able to live the experience through the Bible, as well as the pictures and descriptions of others who have had this wonderful opportunity. I am eagerly anticipating your next topic of your trip.

    poohpity:
You & your mom are in my prayers.

    chfranke & eveyone else:
I’m with chfranke in that I only post if I have a thought, relating to the subject, that no one else has addressed. Why be redundant?

    mtman:
I, too, have a sensitive nature, when it comes to some of the things you have shared…….seeing someone else in pain, an animal suffering, etc. I sure do miss your input and pray that you will allow God to help you work through it and return and share the wealth of what He has for you to share with us. You are in my prayers!

For everyone else, whether you have shared difficult life situations here, or not, please know that although I may not have named you specifically, you ARE in my prayers, also. I have been keeping a list of posters since about last October. Each time a new one shows up, I add them to my list. As of today, there are 115. That’s quite a list to pray for!

  33. pegramsdell says:

Prayer is much needed for the flood victims and those on this blog with problems and needs. I am asking Our Lord to help. With relief, healing, comfort, love and whatever else is needed. God is good and faithful and He will come through for us. Even get us through these hard times. So many are suffering and some feel all alone (but you are not). He will never leave you. Jesus is interceding for all of us. Mart, praying for your trip to be successful.

  34. BruceC says:

    poohpity,

You’re in my prayers sister. May the Lord restore you quickly from the surgery and may His hand of peace and comfort rest upon you and your Mom. I’ve been there and done that myself. It really hurts; but God can bring us a peace through it all that words cannot describe.

  35. SFDBWV says:

Cheryl, I too kept track of posters. I quit at 142, I became overwhelmed in one of the last controversial topics.

But one of the things I see benificial about this blog is a world wide prayer chain….Prayer works.

Not just because I want to believe that it does, but because Jesus said it does.

I hold tight to Jesus and His promises.

  36. Laurielee says:

It’s been a bit since we heard from Mr. Mart, but I know that internet can be hard to access at times in Israel. I remember that in ’06 I could access it in the hotel…$20 for 1/2 hour!!! Speaking of things Jewish…Happy New Year!!! It’s the first new moon on the 26th…So today, the 27th of March, is Nisan 1, 5769 of the Jewish year. The beginning of Passover would be 14 days from today. In the Old Testament, our Father laid out the holy days according to the moon cycles. It seems right that a new year would start in the spring. :D

plumbape, You are an amazing testimony after all you’ve been through, yet you have a wonderful outlook! Thanks for letting me learn from you!

pooh, I am so happy that you had your child! I do hope you get what you long for! We are not so different. My youngest (who turned 18 a few days ago) I had as a single parent. There’s probably a time when we’ve all made decisions that weren’t the best, but we didn’t compound them by making an even worse decision. I was 31 when I had him. Most of my family, who are not believers, said it might be best if I had an abortion. I turned away from that advice…and am oh so happy I did. People, including those who advised wrongly, tell me what a fine young man he is! Though I’m not old by most standards, I choose to be alone at this time because I’ve been told that I love God more than the one I was with, and that is something I can’t dispute. An unbeliever has difficulty understanding how it works.

I’m sorry this is long, but I want to say that, though there are too many names for me to mention, you are all so precious…you encourage me, teach me, and help me not feel so alone. Perhaps we are the Father’s gift to each other? (mtman, you are missed…it feels like a member of the family is gone.)

  37. poohpity says:

    Hey folks,
Could you also pray for my best friends daughter in Colorado along with the blizzard she has been out of school for 9 weeks with an undiagnosed problem. The doc’s can not seem to find out what is wrong with her, she is 16 and an honor student. Her name is Kristen.

  38. mtman says:

Cheryl: I have woken up two nights in a row and was unable to get back to sleep thinking how much I truly missed ALL the people on this blog. Cheryl, I have felt the effect of your prayers and others prayers as well. I have not read anything except this particular topic since I signed off so I don’t know what has been said or has gone on.
I do feel an explanation is in order. The church is a very sensitive topic with me. We have tried to find a local church family without success. There are two churches within 25-30 miles of where we live. We went to one – a start up church – and expressed our desire to find a church that loved each other. They were treading water and that thought stirred them to commit to be an example to others by first loving each other. Loving each other then became a commitment and many people were drawn to the little home church because of the love demonstrated. Then two families started to attend and made large money contributions to the church but in exchange manipulated it to be something else altogether where they were the important ones and their programs were the only ones considered. I can recall 5 different specific situations where they would talk to new Christians/members and then we would never see them again and they would not discuss why they left the church. It all came together for me when we (out of love) put a new roof on a native American’s home that was leaking badly. As we were about to leave one of these two men came up to him and told him what was expected of him and I over heard every word. I was stunned to silence and the man was angry. It clearly reflected why the others had left because these two men were giving but then putting demands on the recipient. A few over heard comments later revealed that they were doing this to subjugate people. As time went on they started to demean people and worse. One told me when I left that church that he would get even. I then discovered that they start whisper campaigns to ruin or diminish your reputation as a Christian. They are still at it and the church has shrunk to only a handful who attend. These people are warm and friendly but they have a motive that is not seen on the surface. They now have a church where they are front and center and have a vast store of money and associated debt. That church has now shrunk to a hand full. So I have seen first hand what I posted earlier can do and how easily it can be destroyed. I am a witness.
I therefore feel very strongly about it and while I did not allow myself to be personally hurt by their actions, was very disappointed. My heart goes out to those who have been hurt by these people and now want nothing to do with Christians because of their poor example. I have pondered this situation for years and what I posted is the result of that effort.
I have come to love each one of you and you are the only real church I have. The love, compassion, understanding, guidance, and teaching that goes on with this blog is what I need and by others comments what a lot of folks need. I have seen people disagree and still love each other.
People with varied talents and who can demonstrate real sincere love come together to make an on line church in a very true sense. I simply can’t tell you how stupid that was of me to sign off and how much I really missed you ALL as a result.
Maybe now I can get a good nights sleep…because I think God has sent me a message from his saints who have been praying. (smile)
POOH: You have been and continue to be in my prayers as many others have and will continue to be. The more you post the more I admire you and the others too for what they have gone through and are going through.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this day… a day of beautiful beginnings for all the wonderful people here on this blog. We praise you— our great God who is the only strength in our weakness, the only security in all our troubles, the only deliverer from all our enemies and the only hope amidst all our failures…

We thank you because you are the only one who knows and understands our pain and takes into account all our tears. Whenever we cried out to you in distress, you heard us and readily helped us. Whenever deep waters threatened to drown us and the waves of death swirled around to engulf us… you reached over and pulled us out from torrents of destruction. You rescued us not because we deserved… but because you delighted in us.

We know that you saved us not because we loved you but because you loved us. We know you will always watch over us not because we cared about you but because you care for us. We know that there is no one like you…so full of compassion, love, mercy and grace. Lord, to whom would we go? We know that it is not the pleasures or the riches or the wisdom and might of man but it is you— you are Life… and it is your words alone we have believed.

Dear Lord, thank you so much for bringing back mtman. Please protect Steve’s neighbor’s sister, Mona and all the suffering people affected by floods in North Dakota. We pray for poohpity’s knee problem and her best friend’s daughter, Kristen in Colorado…that you may help the doctors diagnose her health problem. We pray for Mart & Co. in Israel and for each and every one who posts here or comes in to read… that you may grant them and their loved ones… protection, peace and comfort… that you may fulfill their needs and heal their sickness and bless them abundantly.

Above all, wherever we are…in our churches, as individuals or in our communities… help us to live and grow together as your loving children and bring honor to your name, because you alone are worthy of all glory, honor and praise. This is my humble prayer to you O God which I offer with a thankful heart… in Jesus’ precious name!

  43. cherielyn says:

    AMEN!

    Beautiful prayer, daisy!

  44. pegramsdell says:

Amen and Amen. Thank you Daisy for your prayer. I appreciate it very much. Peg

  45. Laurielee says:

“To whom would we go?” Indeed & AMEN!!! Thank you, Daisy!

pooh, yes I will pray for Kristen…and all those in ND who are affected.

mtman! Welcome back! You left a hole. Who else do we know that, as someone said, heats his house with a woodstove and communicates on the ‘net??? Plus, your love for the rescue dogs is a dear cause to me. I know what it’s purpose is…and many of my good friends have been shepherds…not to mention the Shepherd! :D I very much understand the church situation you’ve been through, cuz I’ve been there. A couple in the church I went to fired the pastor, took over, and ultimately created two separate churches. (buildings) Another only let relatives of the pastor teach Sunday School or hold any position, gossip was rampant…and one of those teaching sold illegal drugs for a living!!! There have to be, as evidenced by some here, some congregations that serve the Lord in Spirit & Truth…but when these things happen, if the body won’t denounce them, you must leave their midst! I’m wondering if these things are more likely to happen in the small areas in which we live?

  46. SFDBWV says:

mtman Bruce, Welcome home brother. I had stated earlier that I could tell plenty of ugly unhappy stories about the failure of people who pastor, preach, lead, control, serve in churches.

I choose not to because these people are held accountable to God, for their actions within the body of Christ. As am I. So when offended I do what I can to fix the problem. If the problem can’t be fixed, holding no grudge against anyone I leave. Yet unlike God who forgives and forgets, I can forgive but find it very difficult to forget. God and I will deal with my failures together.

Where there are people, there is sin, and where sin is failure can soon follow. Life is a battlefield and we are the combatants as well as the prize.

If you can’t find the church that works for you. Then you and your wife worship there in your cabin together. If any friends ask to come and fellowship with you let them join in. Christ wants you to worship God with glad and happy hearts.

I am sure you have already reached that point where worship and fellowship and prayer with God is an every day all day occurance. That has no actual beginning nor end. So Bruce don’t grieve over the failures of others just commit yourself to God and HE will do the rest.

I guess you are getting hammered with this spring snowstorm? I am sure a guy who loves the mountains knows how to surrive living in them. At least I do hope you are ok.

    Love you brother
    Steve

  47. poohpity says:

    Hey mtman,

I said I would get back to you about the church. I told you about me being at the church for a long time well last week one of the guys from my special abilities sunday school passed on March 17th and I attended the service. One of the others guys from the class who has problems with vocalizations said to me “I miss you Deborah” oh my gosh did that ever get me. Then this week while reading 1&2 Peter, Jude and 2 Tim I was understanding a little better that I was only responsible for the job that was given me. If I were to keep my eyes on doing that job and quit trying to get folks to pay attention to what needed to change in the church and put it over into the Lord’s hands He can work the miracles.

Our church has the same problems as yours with people who have the biggest tithes sort of trying to get things done the way they want. That is not my job that is the Lord’s but if I leave even though I did not receive the care I needed, they (sunday school) received the care they needed and that is my job. The scriptures I read told me to stop grumbling and complaining and just do my job which I loved very much. Although my feelings were hurt, I in turned hurt the guys in my sunday school. I really need to go back and just do my job and leave the rest up to the Lord. I really need to ask those guys to forgive me for leaving them.

The people in the church are just like me perfectly imperfect and no matter where I go it will be the same. I guess the only thing that I need to pay attention to is if the bible is being taught accurately and it was.

Well my doc this morning said I need to have that arthroscopic surgery on my knee because I have ripped my cartilage. So for hip and knee to heal I need that surgery. Whatever!!! If it ain’t one thing it is another.:)

  48. mtman says:

You all have done it now… as I sit here with tears streaming down my cheeks. I am overwhelmed by your love. THANK YOU ALL…… Daisy: That is the very best prayer I have heard because I know it came from the depths of your heart. Thank you all…

  49. sjd says:

    Amen to Daisy’s prayer.

    Welcome back mtman!!

I will continue to thank God for you all and pray for you all!

I pray that you “may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:18-19
