OK, people, I’m probably coming late to the party. But I just heard about this Youtube sensation that apparently is bringing more than a few of us to tears.

Came home a little while ago to work on my tax return. My wife sat me down and said, “You have to see this.” So now, am passing it along. Just in case some of you haven’t seen yet.

Don’t mean to overcook it. Just don’t tell me there aren’t spiritual lessons to be thought about here.

    That is awesome!!!! I learned long ago not to judge a book by its cover. This makes the point so beautifully. I tried not to cry but couldn’t help myself. Awesome!!!! Way to go Susan Boyle.

    Wish I could view it Mart but internet video and “dial-up” don’t go hand in hand to say the least. One of the many prices paid for living in a rural area. But I take your word for it.

    My son showed me this video while I was doing tax’s since 9:00 a.m. this morning and let me tell you God must have know I needed a break and a lift. Her voice was awsome!! Even my son was choked up. And that takes a lot.

    I’m like BruceC, live in rural area and can’t get access. However, I did see clips on the news and everyone is so right! Isn’t it wonderful that God gave Susan a voice that is out of this world! I do hope that things will go well for her. I wonder if she is a Christian? I thought of the scripture in James, where he talks about someone coming in with good clothes and someone coming in very poor. Who do we give the most attention to? Who do we avoid? What are we doing to help those in need? It brought out a lot of questions for me.

    Seems to me that one of the most inspiring of thoughts is to rise above the expectations of others who think they know us. A beautiful voice from an under-rated face is one thing. Imagine the possibilities of overcoming our natural inclinations to the point that we let Christ surprise others with his goodness through us.

    Mart: Your point is well made and should be the ideal. I have known many people over the years that at first glance you simply would not gravitate to. Some who you would probably run from. What a shame that is because they had/have such a testimony, blessing and lesson to teach. I found quite a contrast between the female judge and Susan Boyle. Had that lady judge got up there and sounded like Susan did no one would have been surprised. That to me is one of the many blessings of this blog you have set up. We do not get distracted by looking at each other, we simply go on the written word that speaks to the inner self.
    If there is a Christian lesson to be learned here I think it is that we need to close our eyes sometimes, listen until we hear, and while visual beauty is pleasant to the eye that inward beauty is pleasant to our soul and spiritual growth.
    I have and several have posted about dogs and how much they can teach us if we pay attention.
    MART is there any chance you could do a subject on that. I just posted one for Claudia on the taxes topic. Not really on topic but I think it is a subject close to many hearts.

    I agree mtman Bruce, jumping to conclusions is always a mistake. A slow and thorough examination of any subject is the best appraoch.

    I was as I watched this video, fixed on the expressions of the people in the audiance. One in a several was hurting for this woman but most were disgusted and it showed on their faces. The lessor people were hurting for her and that showed as well. I considered it the same of human nature that few showed love and concern and most showed unconected coldness toward another human being.

    The videographer who took the video knew that people’s expressions were the key to the supprise ending and did a good job showing it.

    She was on the morning news and for a while will be a person of intrest on talk shows and other media that will exploit her. I pray that God protects her as all the attention has an effect. That He sends the right people to her in order to help her and guide her. She is afterall just one of us.

    The video show us all how superficial most are,but also shows we all like to see the underdog win one.

    I say good fortune to her and pray for her success.

    I remember reading a story aboout a pastor who at one time dressed in rags and looked like a bum.Then went to church and everyone shied away from him He was trying to teach his congregation a lesson on judging one another.It was so long ago that I read that I don’t remember all the details.What a good lesson.I also noticed in a church where I once went that there tend to be little clicks and the under dog was kind of left on the side lines.It is esepecially sad to see in a church.If we can’t have unconditional love for our brethern how can we love the lost.

    Laney: I remember reading that same story. The pastor involved had just came to that church. First Sunday. No one knew him and he sat on the front steps as his new congregation all walked by him without saying a word. After they went in he then went in and up to the pulpit and introduced himself to them. I’d say that he was called to be a minister because his first lesson to his members was one they clearly needed to hear. I think it is one we all need to hear on a regular basis less we fall into Satan’s trap.

    The bible is full of stories resembling the Susan Boyle story. Mose, David, Job, Isaiah, Jeremiah and the list goes on until today. Gosh look what others said about Jesus, there was nothing in His looks that made Him stand out. I think that is so important to learn people will not be impressed by what we look like, but how we behave. I think we even can go a little further and say not even the words we say but how we live our lives is the reflection of who we are. The heart is hidden from sight but our actions are not. This lesson is the greatest thing in all the bible to learn!!!

    Wow! What a performance! I teared up just like everyone else. What a lesson it has also taught us. Human nature seems to draw us to the ‘bright and shiny’ things of this world…much like racoons. The comments here reminded me of something that happened a few years ago. I was struggling with a load and needed help. Close to me were two men that you could say looked like bums. I turned and asked, “Could you gentlemen give me a hand?” They jumped up to help immediately. Afterwards, one of the men actually had tears in his eyes and said, “Thank you for calling us gentlemen.” I think it was ME that learned the bigger lesson here!

    Poohpity,I thought of that also about Jesus and his looks.I know there is a bible verse about it.I can’t remember it or where to find it.I know someone can help with that verse. Laurielee I like your comment a bout the racoons. Also about your lesson on the gentlemen.Mtman Do you think my other mistake was in naming the love birds Romeo and Juliet.It is also tragic to say Juliet came to a tragic ending.I was watching my daughters dalmation for her ane Juliet got out of her nesting box and Sassy killed her.Thank the Lord The lady at the pet shop was able to take the babies and feed them.I think there were 5 at the time.She saved all but one.

    I need time to think what possible lessons I may learn from this performance, but for now I will say that I cried such tears of joy for the first time in a year! I am home today, suffering from multiple panic attacks, and all I can say is that this video was the first 7 minutes of this day that I felt good!

    THAT was something!!! WOW!!!I thought I’d heard some inspiring performances until Susan Boyle. How unassuming when she walked onstage, and to see the reactions of the panel and audience was sort of sad(their “who’s this?” looks). How little did they know that they were getting ready to witness something wonderful. I don’t think there’s enough superlatives in the English language to describe her voice. Her performance had the tears rolling, to be sure. Mine. Great lesson for us all, too. That old wordly way of predisposition, presupposing, and just looking at the outward appearance instead of the heart. Pretty hard to judge hearts, so we’ll leave that up to the Most High, but we can always not get into all that what it looks like stuff. I believe we would do well to pray for this woman’s well-being, because the vultures are always circling and laying dead to capitalize on someone as talented as Susan. The scripture that laney is wondering over is one of the great chapters in the entire Word; Isaiah 53, and verse 2 is the specific. The Suffering Servant. Again…WOW! Think I’ll have another glance at Sue. GT

    Went back and watched a couple more times, shared it on my diary. I also looked at some of the comments being left. We are, in general quick to judge, but I think had she been terrible, many would have most gladly ripped her just as they are ripping the audience now. We not only judge quickly but change our judgments. We need to think more and wait more patiently. And I too pray she is careful with this sudden fame. It’s already worldwide.

    Laney: that is just so funny – except for the part where the dalmation gets one of the love birds. My guess would be that two love birds named Romeo and Juliet left undisturbed would make sweet music like Susan Boyle and soon you would have a very large flock of love birds. Can you envision 100 Susan Boyles all singing together?
    Just heard the weather forecast and we are in the possible 12 – 36″ snow range. If that happens I may not be posting for a few days as the power can go off for up to 5+ days with the wet snow pulling down trees across power lines. As was pointed out to me by a friend we have two seasons here in Colorado, winter and July. July is not always a sure thing either.

    Mtman, I went back to listen to Susan Boyle again.I would love to hear her sing some praise and worship music.Yes 100 Susan Boyles singing together would be awesome.But better yet I can’t wait to hear the heavenly choir thats around Jesus throne singing praises to him.Hopefully I will get a better singing voice in heaven.So sorry about the snow.I remember when my huband moved us to upstate new york.The first month it snowed every day.I cried and said where did you move me Alaska.I remember snow banks some years as high as our garage roof.I will keep you in prayer that you will not get to much also that your power dosen’t go out.I know how that is also.We had the power out one time for 4 or 5 days.It was no picknick thats for sure.Hopefully you have a generator just in case.I will definately keep you in prayer.

    Went back and viewed the magnificent performance a few more times and what struck the deepest was the expressions on the panels’ faces. The guy on the left was gulping to try and swallow his unbelief at what was happening. The pretty lady was enraptured and seemed to be doing everything she could to keep from weeping. And the cynical leader was flabbergasted, as if to say “How wrong could I be?”. Somewhat amusing was his response when the performance had finished and he remarked how he knew from the start. Nice try huh? Everything about it betrayed his so-called premonition. Susan is definitely refreshing, and I pray the Father be merciful and protect her and keep her. GT

    Laney: I think that is what we will hear when we hear that heavenly chorus sing. Sounds like those coming from Susan Boyle only by the mulitudes. What a truly wonderful voice.
    As to the snow, we are happy to have it and the inconvenience it causes is okay. It is our water supply and keeps the wildfire danger in check. We continually pray for snow. Snow is better than wildfires for sure. No generator but we do okay without one.

    Mtman Bruce, I have a generator. It was a good purchase. I only use it maybe once a year during emergencies, But I would not use the computer with it, too many voltage swings.

    We have had 178.9 inches of snow this season. Nothing like you fellows get in the Rockies. But like you without it we would be very dry and it is the snow and rain that feeds our water systems. So we too just accept it as a gift from God.

    Breezomatic, I’m surely praying for you! I know all about panic attacks, as I’ve suffered from them all my life. Too many times others don’t understand…I know that well! I hope you pamper yourself, listen to some nice music, and read some Psalms…I know there are times when I could tell you without hesitation that the Psalms have saved my life!

    I think this is the most wonderful thing I have heard in a long time. Woke me up with respect to not judge book by its cover, in this case, a person. I have played this over and over and get goose bumps everytime. GOD certainly give this lady an awesome voice, as others have said, an angel’s voice. Thanks for sharing.

    Mtman, I did not know that you get wildfires where you live.I take back my prayer.I hope you get lots of snow.Thank God he dosen’t answer some of our prayers.Is that true you only have July without any snow.You don’t really have any spring or summer do you?How cold does it get there? We can sometimes have it as cold as 20 or 30 below. Laurielee and Breezeomatic I’m so sorry that you suffer from panic attacks.My mother sometimes gets panic attacks.She said that when it happens to her she feel like she can’t breath.Laurielee mentioned to play some music.I was also going to suggest some praise and worship music and just getting into Gods presence.I know easier said then done when that is happenening to you.You are in my prayers.

    I can’t see it on this old computer and unless it is on the weather channel I won’t catch it on TV ;^). Could someone do a readers digest version of the performance, please? I got some of it from comments.
    Thanks to everyone here for sharing and caring for one another!!!! I don’t comment much but I’m here several times a day when possible and I just wanted to say how helpful it is to me everyday. Praise Jesus!! Praying for everyone and prayers definitely works!!

    I’m thrilled at Susan’s success, but it’s sad that she had to have a good voice in order for people to recognize her value as an individual. It’s terrible that people can be so cruel to someone just because they have different looks, race, intelligence, or sexual orientation.

    This issue–reaching out and appreciating the underdogs–needs to be addressed in Christian circles. So often
    people get overlooked.

    Thanks, laney…I kind of just look at my panic attacks as my ‘thorn’. :) People can’t really tell that I have them…probably because I exclude myself from others alot!

    Michael, I’m not great at the detail, but I’ll try… Susan Boyle, a rather plain looking woman in her 40’s who’s never been married or kissed and lives with her cat, got up on stage at what I presume is Britain’s version of American Idol (I don’t watch TV, so bear with me). There was derision on people’s faces…until she started to sing! A tune from Les Miserables, I believe. Such a clear, beautiful voice! The panel of judges and the audience looked as if they were fighting back tears, it was so good! She ended up getting a standing ovation…even from those who looked skeptical before she started singing. If anyone can explain better, please do.

    What did all his holy prophets say since the world began?

    Mat 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

    Mat 19:28…(regeneration)…new birth, reproduction, renewal, recreation, regeneration

    hence renovation, regeneration, the production of a new life consecrated to God, a radical change of mind for the better. The word often used to denote the restoration of a thing to its pristine state, its renovation, as a renewal or restoration of life after death

    the renovation of the earth after the deluge

    the renewal of the world to take place after its destruction by fire, as the Stoics taught

    the signal and glorious change of all things (in heaven and earth) for the better, that restoration of the primal and perfect condition of things which existed before the fall of our first parents, which the Jews looked for in connection with the advent of the Messiah, and which Christians expected in connection with the visible return of Jesus from heaven.

    In these Outline of Biblical Usage we see that it is referring to a new State of Being, a State of Being that was lost by Adam’s sin and it’s curse resounded throughout all creation(Known Universe)…Rom 8:20 For the creature(Creation) was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected [the same] in hope, 21 Because the creature(Creation) itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the “whole creation” groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body.

    So all of this adds up to, that when the Messiah shall appear in all his glory, the glory of his Father, he(Jesus) by his delegated eternal power “given” to him by his Father, will restore all things(Creation) as spoken by all the prophets of old.

    So according to scripture, the Marriage Supper of the Lamb will take place when Jesus comes down from the right hand of his Father, and sits in the throne of his glory, the throne of his father David, in Israel, judging the twelve tribes of Israel, and also shall his twelve beloved ones sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

    Mat 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

    Luk 22:30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

    Mat 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.

    The Marriage Supper of the Lamb can not take place until the dead(Asleep) in Jesus are resurrected in the last day, and the living in Christ are transformed in a second, in the mirror likeness reflection of their Lord.

    And we know clearly in scripture that the dead(Asleep) in Jesus will be resurrected when Jesus returns to our world in the last day, which is the last trump or the seventh trump, when the world(Age) to come is regenerated and restored to it’s original state.

    Jesus said, “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work” (Revelation 22:12)

    At this time the saved will not only meet the Lord and enjoy the wonderful marriage supper of the Lamb, but they will also face the “judgment seat of Christ,” in which they will be judged and rewarded or chastised individually according to their deeds and faithfulness, and will enter into the particular places that Jesus has seen fit for them to occupy in His kingdom on earth (2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:10,12).

    laney: Often it seems like our summer is July, but truth is that sometime in June it will start to be nice and that will last until sometime around the end of September. It gets cold in the winter but not real cold. Our mountain is on the edge of a valley and the heat rises off the valley floor so winter time we generally don’t get below zero. As I write this we are having heavy snow and thunder and lightning. Not unusual and the power has already been off once. Just one of the things to contend with in the mountains.
    I can’t seem to help myself, I keep going back to listen to Susan Boyle. What a voice! What a lesson!

    Mtman, just like you I have gone back to listen To Susan again and again.Just a thought for those of us who have a terrible singing voice.I wonder if by the time our voices reach heaven if maybe they can sound as beauitful as Susans when our Lord hears our songs.EVen if they are not on key like mine I know the Lord enjoys my singing.After all he gave me my voice.     I do not know about you all but I have found the love of God more in those that the world would consider rejects. While those that the world consider beautiful have hearts and minds of stone. For myself I love to be around those that are beautiful and that is not necessarily an outer beauty, but the beauty that emanates from from a pure heart.

    Laurielee: That is a wonderful story and a good lesson. We all need to be more kind, more considerate, more compassionate, and much more loving to others whether they look “pretty” or not. Your consideration registered deeply on those two men’s hearts.
    A lesson I have learned from our very big German Shepherd dog is that his size makes one think he is a rough and tough guy. Not so. He is as tender and sensitive inside that even a semi nasty look will devastate him. I think people are just like that too. Doesn’t mean a thing how they look on the outside, it is like Pooh says, its the inner beauty that really counts. Often a tough exterior is a mask to the real beauty that flows from inside. Not always but often.

    Rick123, Thanks so much for all your help explaining the scriptures for me.I thought the Marriage Supper of the Lamb was a literal dinnner and communion.I just wanted to check with someone and make sure I was understanding it correctly.If you don’t mind can I pick your brain one more time.In revelation chapter 22:2 Where it talks about the tree of life which bears twelve manner of fruits and yielded her fruit every month and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations is that also just for the beleivers that came out of the tribulation and populated the earth during the millenium.Also I’m a little confused being we had the great white throne judgement and now we have the new heaven and new earth and the new Holy city.Is it because the people still don’t have there glorified bodies that they need to eat from the tree of life?

    Thank you for the bible verse. I have a method to my madness about not putting scripture sometimes because it gets people to open up that wonderful book on their own. I have learned to relate scripture to present day circumstances which helps the reader in life application. I know my brain sometimes gets fried which it never had a long way to go, lol. I guess I live by K.I.S.S. (keep it simple saint). I will try to put scripture references but then what if no one reads it and only goes on what I say or anyone else and does not find out on their own. See there goes my brain again. LOL I only have a little to work with here.

    Pooh, I’m agree, once on Christmass my husband shared the Gospel using a message he found in library called in spanish “Despreciado” I don’t know the word in english, but is some kind of rejected. All telling about how Jesus was rejected in his birth, coming to the world in the middle of cows and bad oddors, and so it goes telling how He was rejected since then to now, when people does not want to hear about Him.
    This singer gave herself to the audience with her voice and moved hearts, unbelievable, but giving all His blood, with the load of our sin on Him, hearts remain still.
    Lets give down our will, for God’s be done trough us, and let the people see, really see Jesus in our life.
    And like gr8granny, have an eyes surgery in order to see world has no hope, and time is almust finishing.

    Remember, Adam, if he would have obeyed God, Adam would have lived forever, by partaking of the tree of life, which was real food, so God closed the tree of life with cherubims, to keep Adam away.

    The saved nations(Rev 21:24) shall eat from the fruits of the trees of life, to live forever, through faith and obedience to God, these saved nations will be of flesh and bones just like the flesh and bones of Adam, before he sinned.

    The glorified saints in Christ, who will be like Christ in his glorified body, they will rule the saved nations with Christ forever.

    The saints in Christ, who will be like Christ in his glorified body, will not live forever in heaven, for remember heaven(The holy city, new Jerusalem, comes down from God out of heaven to earth, in Jerusalem, in the nation of Israel, the resting place of the Eternal One, and the Lamb, forever.

    Enjoyed watching Susan Boyle’s performance on “Britain has got talent”…. it did not stimulate my lacrimal gland but it did remind me of a profound spiritual truth.

    One day we will also stand in front of the greatest Judge of all…to give an account of the talents He has given us. God gives special gifts to every believer… and no it is not related to our physical appearance or abilities… Every good gift from above is not given…based on our spiritual merit or maturity… they are solely based on God’s grace. He equips each one of us according to our individual ability.

    These spiritual gifts are meant to be used for building up the body of Christ. We have to be careful about how we exercise our God-given gift(s). It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. We cannot boast of our special talents because we are merely the vessels. We must always keep in mind that it is His gift and it is His work in us…

    So, if it is His gift and it is His work then what is it that He will judge? Our faithfulness! …and of course to whom much is given, much will be required. Faithfulness is measured in our willful obedience to allow ourselves to be used by Him. Susan Boyle has inspired me to not be slothful… but multiply my talents so that I don’t end up feeling ashamed to stand… spiritually unprofitable before God.

    After facing a panel of skeptical judges and a mocking crowd, Susan Boyle is receiving all the honor and recognition that she rightly deserves. Regardless of the skepticism and mockery of an unbelieving world…God will also recognize and reward us for our faithful stewardship with ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness’… and the same will be said about us… A star is born in the kingdom of God!

    Isn’t it just like our Lord to use the things and people that the world considers lowly and base to bring those full of pride and self down so that He may be glorifed! The first shall last, and the last first.
    My wife was born with a bad learning disability and struggled through school. The rest of the family is for the most part successful in a wordly way; but no one in the family has the love and faith in Christ or the walk with Him that she has. And that is shaneful to the rest. And she is the best cook and talented at arts crafts to boot! God works in mysterious and wonderous ways!

    I am reminded of Jesus and the beautiful gift that was given to us through Him. People hear about Him a lot but never bother to look deeper and know who He is and what He offers. Like Susan Boyle surely someone had heard her voice and just went on……………..

    pooh Thank you for your prayers and for sharing I was going to eventually but just hadn’t found the words. Nothing is resolved so am still very blurry eyed and in wait mode.The surgery went fine but the results are pending. Deborah Matt and I share on another post sometimes so pooh kind of got my story one day when I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. Thank all of you for your prayers and your caring.

    I have been checking out computer software for the seeing impaired if anyone knows anything about that I could use the information. I have been researching but am so lacking in computer technology. I think one can use an audio software to read a web site but I have to wait for my children to help me out with this. I am hoping I won’t need it but have found through this experience how lacking I have been in my concern for the physically blind .I pray I have done better with the spiritually blind.God is still teaching me.

    Just had to share this before my laptop gets picked up for repairs today. Got this from my daughter-in-law in an email this morning. I felt it was so appropriate to this subject that I just felt compelled to share it.

    Clay Balls
    A man was exploring caves by the Seashore. In one of the caves he found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn’t look like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.

    He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock . Inside was a beautiful, precious stone!

    Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left.

    Then it struck him. He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of thousands, but he had just thrown it away!

    It’s like that with people. We look at someone, maybe even ourselves, and we see the external clay vessel. It doesn’t look like much from the outside. It isn’t always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it.

    We see that person as less important than someone more beautiful or stylish or well known or wealthy. But we have not taken the time to find the treasure hidden inside that person.

    There is a treasure in each and every one of us. If we take the time to get to know that person, and if we ask God to show us that person the way He sees them, then the clay begins to peel away and the brilliant gem begins to shine forth.

    May we not come to the end of our lives and find out that we have thrown away a fortune in friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay. May we see the people in our world as God sees them.

    I am so blessed by the gems of friendship I have with you. Thank you for looking beyond my clay vessel.

    I saw this waaaaay late but I ll put my 2 cents in anyway. Its my understanding that Susan have been singing for a long time but choose not to do anything about it other than singing karaoke in the local pubs and in church because she was too busy taking care of her ailing mother.

    If that is true then God is certainly honoring her. Its my understanding that Jesus was not handsome at all but that how God works. He typically takes the least of us to make some grander and more glorious than we can do on our own.

    Praise God for Susan! The world needs MORE Christian entertainers…..not less!
