The Two Books of God

Several years ago, an international team of astronomers claimed that images from the Hubble Space telescope give evidence of 40,000 galaxies in a window of the night sky no larger than the size of the moon. Each galaxy containing billions of stars. (source)

Then I hear the prophet Isaiah say, “To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; not one is missing (Isa 40:25-26).

Over the years Dean Ohlman, host of Wonder of Creation, and I have had conversations about “the two books of God.” For a long time I felt that putting these two books side by side could have the effect of detracting from the inspired Scriptures, by which all else is to be weighed and measured. But I had to acknowledge Dean’s reminder that theologians have for a long time acknowledged the fact of God’s general and special revelation (i.e. creation/general and Scripture/special).

In addition, I’ve often thought about the fact that, in response to Job’s questions about why he was suffering,  the Lord asked Job to consider “the wonder of Creation” (Job 38-41).

I’ve also reflected on the way David placed the two books of Creation and Scriptures side by side (Psalm 19). I’ve thought about the Apostle Paul’s insistence that all people could be held accountable to what God has said about his own character and eternal power through what he has made (Romans 1:19-20).

The result is that I’ve become increasingly convinced that the Bible itself shows the wisdom of what Dean argues for. Reading God’s two books of creation and Scripture side by side seems to be not only God’s intent, but a basic source of the wisdom we all need—in the face of whatever personal challenges we all are facing today. As we read the Scriptures to understand that the one true God is distinct from his creation, so the creation itself enables us to read the Scriptures with a spirit of healthy, trembling, humility and trust.

Then my mind goes back to Isaiah. After talking about the overwhelming “message of the stars” he says to his own generation and readership, “[So] why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my just claim is passed over by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:27-31).

And together…don’t the two books of God, both merge into a single witness to The Eternal Word, by whom God made all that has been made… before suffering and dying in our place… to bring us to his Father (John 1:1-14).

I think that at times just as people can misuse, misapply and worship scripture they also can worship the creation. I believe that the part of creation that God holds so dear is people as seen in Genesis 6. People are going to be with God for eternity and because of that God will create a new place to live the old will be gone. Does that mean we are to ruin the creation, no. It would seem that some folks which I find no fault would rather be around the wonder of creation than people but I thought our job was to tell the Good News so that people can be saved. If we surround ourselves with only the creation how do we minister to the needs of people which is what Jesus gave us the example of doing?

I also believe we get to know God through the bible as well as through creation. Psalm 46:10 says God will be exalted in the earth. That to me says by looking at creation it is a reflection of the One who created it. The wonder of creation displays an aspect of God but there are things in creation that are a bit harsh as well. The complexity of the human mind is a masterpiece in and of itself. If looking at the creation as well as the bible we come to a better understanding of God that is outrageous but human beings are the only thing created in the image of God.

With all things in our lives there has to be a balance. Some people do so much work that they never get a chance to enjoy nature which is wondering at the majesty and awesomeness of our God.

When I was about eleven years old, maybe 13, getting old so not so sure. lol
I used to lay on our shed roof and all I could see were stars, thousands and thousands of stars.
Our streets were still lit by old victorian gas lamps in my area back in the late sixties, so the night sky was very bright.
I was amazed by the wonder of it all, and as a Star Trek fan used to imagine I was flying through space.
I also felt a sense that I didn’t belong on this earth and that my real parents were somewhere out there.
A few years later I found my real Dad and His Son Yeshua, Messiah.
Even though I had no religious upbringing my spirit and heart still longed for a relationship with God and recognised Him in His creation.
I was reminded of this the other day when I walked to church, about three miles. As soon as I left the last street light behind and stepped out into the country roads the sky just lit up with the Glory of God. I could see thousands upon thousands of stars.
    Awesome is our God, Awesome!

Yes! Before I read the scriptures and learned about the saving Grace of God through Jesus, I had long believed that there was a God. The Holy Spirit had not yet led me to the conviction of my sin and the need for atonement.

My belief in God was based on the natural morality that has been mentioned a few blog posts ago, and on the wonders of creation. Photos of space and the African plains are beautiful, but the perfection of creation goes far deeper than that.

It is amazing how amino acids build the blocks of life, how music conforms to physical laws, how physicists can use mathematics to understand the properties of particles smaller than the atoms themselves.

In the last topin BruceC mentioned children that died because their parents had not sought medical attention for them because they decided wrongly how God is supposed to heal if He so chooses. Does God want us to ignore the evidence of our senses?

Anyone that only looks at the natural world is missing half the story: it is beautiful and even perfect, but it does not give meaning. Anyone that only looks to scripture might fail to grasp the infiniteness and perfection of His creation.

    Yes, Bob, it is awesome!

  4. JediKnight4Him says:

I remember when I was saved I was looking out into space at night and looking at the full moon in the sky. I asked the Lord to come into my heart and knew He could hear my voice “was born again”. I had a scene of feeling small but that Gods presants filled the universe so I knew he could hear me. General revelation leaves us with no excuse not to feel after God for special revelation…..though He is not far. :)

Sundays are a busy time for me. After trying to get on the RBC site and finding it immpossible to connect several times in the morning, I never really had time to be at the computer again.

I am sorry because the wonders of nature is something very close to my heart. Though in truth I never considered it as a different book about God. That concept is kind of neat.

As most of the older readers know, each morning I go out into the dark and feed the critters that have come to me for breakfast. While there under the dark sky I have my private time with the Lord.

I have private time with Him all day, but there in the morning it feels like it is just Him and I with all of the beauty of creation as a garment He wears.

His nature and His majesty seen as one. No detail left out…everything perfect and in balance.

We read that there are unseen, dimensions of existence, as many as 12 by the experts reasoning. Imagine if you can the wonders of creation we have not yet experianced.

All of which show the many facets of God.

    Beautifull verse Isaiah 40:25-26

Yesterday I went to a big church, near The Hague, they have a ministry of healing. Many people have been healed miraculously of cancer, rheumatism, ALS. From all over our country, and even from Belgium people come. Sick people and very sick people. And I still struggle with migraine.
The service starts with praise, and of worshiping God and Jesus. As the great God, the one who created everything. All that is around us He made it. No one who can match Him, He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
It is as if God says: Look around you, all that you see I created it, can I not save you, can I not heal you?
While sitting there I was thinking, the creation is so real around us, it is such a powerfull testimony that He is there always. He made it, so why doubt so much?
He asked people to accept Jesus as Lord in their hearts, but he also gave bibles to all who did not have one. He sent them home saying to believe in God trhough Jesus, to study the bible, and to live a life obeying God. and to look for a church in their own community.
And then he asked people who were ill to come forward and he would lay his hands on them and prayed. But he also said, in our own chair God would do miracles, open your heart for Him, believe that He is all powerfull.
It was such al long line, they go on till deep in the night.
He made the heavens and earth and all that is in them, He regenerated earth out of chaos, He can also regenerate us out of our chaos in life our struggles, our illnes.

    Isaiah 45:18,22
For this is what the LORD says—
    he who created the heavens,
    he is God;
he who fashioned and made the earth,
    he founded it;
he did not create it to be empty,
but formed it to be inhabited—
    he says:
    “I am the LORD,
    and there is no other.
22 “Turn to me and be saved,
    all you ends of the earth;
for I am God, and there is no other.

  8. SFDBWV says:

Amen Bruce, it is all very frustrating and upsetting.

Some people have figured a way to place their comments on a word processor then transfer it to the blog when done….I do not know how to do that nor have the time to duplicate everything I do.

    Steve

  9. BruceC says:

    Well, I’ll try again.

When I was a young boy I didn’t need anyone to “convince” me that there was a God and that He was good. I don’t know how to explain it, but I just “knew” it. I guess it is that conscience that it is in all of all us and I didn’t fight it.
When I was in my early 20’s, God convinced me that I was a sinner and needed Christ as my Saviour. This He did through His second Book; the written Word of God.
I have spent countless hours afield fishing, hunting, and camping; and to this day His awesome power and goodness shown through creation makes me speechless.
The Word says that His creation pours forth speech and it testifies of Him. I still find the idea of people not believing hard to grasp; even though the Word says that most will not.
I groan within my spirit that people believe satan’s deception of evolution, follow a hokey man made religion, or believe that they are “good” folks and don’t need a Saviour. I cannot fathom how scientists can delve into the wonder of it all and not see God; and choose their own intellect and ego instead.
The older I get the more I groan within over how people treat one another(even Christians) and then find a way to justify it. (Myself included) I find myself yearning more and more for the things of God and groaning within more over the things of the world.
I feel more and more like an alien here; out of place and home.
Steve mentioned other “dimensions” and I agree. Some day Christ will return and at the end of time those dimensions will be one and we will be with the Lord forever.
Even so; come quickly Lord Jesus!

  11. SFDBWV says:

Well done Bruce, I read a book years ago by a young Creflo Dollar, in it he gave his thoughts on the difference between our spirit and our soul.

He believed we feel in our hearts the soul, but feel our spirits in our stomachs.

Which is why so many people say they have a feeling in the pit of their stomachs..such and such.

I too experiance that 6th sense of knowing something unseen, just being able to accept it because I just know it to be so down deep in my spirit alongside my soul.

I’ve always liked the wording in Proverbs 6:6 “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; *CONSIDER* her ways, and be wise.”

There is just so much information in that little statement.

“Go to the ant” take a look at the little ant…”Thou sluggard” you lazy lout…”Consider” study and observe, learn from. “Her” once again the correctness of scripture, we all now understand through studying and observing the ant that they are mostly all female…”and be wise.”….Learn wisdom from observing even the little ant…

Imagine what we may learn if we take the time to learn from all of nature around us….

How to make thread as strong as a spider, how to build skyscrapers that breathe and are air-conditioned as does the little termite.

How to navigate the globe in the dark clouded night sky as do birds and the dark abyss of the ocean as do the sea turtles.

    “Observe* *Consider*…Nature, and be *Wise*.

BruceC, I have to agree when you wrote, “The older I get the more I groan within over how people treat one another(even Christians) and then find a way to justify it. (Myself included)”. Myself included too. God made us to serve Him and one another yet we at times we do more harm than good. It seems that all of creations gives wonderful things to our eyes to see and some things for our nose to smell and our fingers to touch yet there is nothing better than a warm hug from a friend or a loved one.

  18. wpleasant says:

I did a class assignment for a college course once on Intelligent Design.
I had a powerpoint display showing graphics of the intricacies of sub-microscopic
and sub atomic “structures” in microscopic life forms that some scientists believe showed patterns and
indications of similar structures in machines and technology of designs created and made
by engineers and scientists in recent times. The proponents of Intelligent Design posited
that this could be evidence that an intelligence was involved in the creation of life rather than the notion of random chemical and physical events occurring and later evolving. As some may be aware this ID theory generated great controversy to the point of law suits and court cases having ID outlawed as theory allowed to be taught in public schools. When reading though the bible several times I was amazed at how many verses repeat the responsibility of everything we see in (heaven and earth) as being “created” by God. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I believe that awareness of the intricacies, wonders, and variety of creation helps strengthen our faith in God, but our assurance of who is responsible for them comings from our acceptance receiving of of Jesus Christ. Once that happens and we have the Holy Spirit in us we look at God’s creation from a different perspective in faith.

To those interested I wrote this post on a Word document , highlighted it, right clicked the highlight, copied, clicked on the blog, and once the cursor began flashing I right clicked again and pasted. i then submitted my comment. It worked for me. Normally I would directly type in my post because I haven’t had the problem of losing my posts when submitting it, but maybe this suggestion will help.

  19. SFDBWV says:

Well, that didn’t work so back to the same ole same ole for me.

I am a 100% creationist. I get magazines from creation science organizations, and of course email and web site information.

I love the conversation between God and Job found in Chapters 38-41. Much of which has confounded science for years.

I just have to laugh, when I read such startling news as I did some time back on the science news here on the web…That stars emit a noise…..Something the author of Job wrote down thousands of years ago. Job 38:7 “When the morning stars sang together..”

Leviathan, behemoth,….the unicorn…Bible interpetators have tried to give normal names to such beasts. But still they are really not identified as anything we understand today.

I read an interesting news item several months ago, about Chinese people in some province selling ground up dragon bones for medicine…dragon bones!

Several scientists went to the area to see for themselves what it was the locals were passing off as dragon bones…

Turned out they were pterodactyl bones (fossils?).

I also read about a very modern and purely scientific find of soft dinosaur tissue and even blood, having been discovered. This story was also shown on one of the TV networks….soft tissue, and blood, 300 million years old???

I guess my point is that the more we find out about the natural world around us, the more unanswered questions we come up with.

It is enjoyable though to see how God keeps two steps ahead of the best *brains* mankind can put forth.

As we have all said before there is danger in confusing nature and God as to which get worshiped. Pan worship is alive and well in the world. We are to worship the Creator, never the creation.

    Steve

  20. foreverblessed says:

Wpleasant, thanks for your comments, also your last one of the last topic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Just a little bit aside, to say that it is no use to worship creation:
    Isaiah 51
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
    look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,
the earth will wear out like a garment
and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever,
    my righteousness will never fail.

  21. foreverblessed says:

    About the Creator and creation:
    Colossians 2:
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

    The line:
and in him all things hold together
is kind of interesting, all the scientist that search for the one field theory:
Maybe it is Jesus Himself, He is the One who holds everything together. He is the One field Truth.

That He upholds everything by His powerful word.
If Jesus takes away His Word, the creation will cease to exist.

Just for ease so you do not have to look it up:
    Hebrews 1
1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

  22. alex66loribri says:

I understand that the bible is God’s word and is Scripture but what is God’s “book” on creation? I am confused. I did not know that God had two books. Please clarify.

  23. poohpity says:

It is not a book with pages. It is the reflection of God in creation which in and of itself speaks volumes.

    Good Evening All
Hope all is well with you today. Getting ready to read your comments on The Two Books of God. After reading the intro comment twice, nothing came to mind. Maybe I need to meditate on it a little longer. Have found that reading your comments on a topic is (sometimes) helpful in igniting my own thoughts on the subject.

Beautiful, sunny day in Texas, but it was cold (mid 30’s/low 40’s). Gonna get colder over the next two-three days.

  26. Regina says:

    Off topic here…
Watched a mini-series on KERA/PBS, for the past two days, called “Anne of Green Gables” (I’ve seen the series 3 or 4 times), and I’m pretty sure it was filmed on Prince Edward Island in Canada. That island (countryside) is SO beautiful! Never been to Canada before, but I would love to visit, especially Prince Edward Island.
Think my comment fits in with the blog topic (afterall)because that mini-series definitely caused me to reflect on the “wonder of God’s creation!” :-)

  27. wpleasant says:

You’re welcome foreverblessed. With regards to the other book maybe I am one of the few, but does anyone else also get a sense of strange reassurance in observing the impact of some of God’s weather and climate creation placing manmade systems on hold for a period. For example, the recent back to back snow storms have shut down systems and cities despite all of the technology available. (I guess it is easy for me to say that because I live in a part of the country not usually subject to heavy winter storms. My apologies to those who are.) Another is the fact that even our most powerful manmade weapons of war, that being warships that have weapons that could destroy whole cities, have to set out to sea in order to avoid the ravages of an oncoming powerful hurricane. There is something settling to me about manmade things and man having to yield to God’s creation and experiencing that man is not the ultimate power, but God is. It inspires me to worship the God who created snow storms and hurricanes and not the storms and hurricane’s themselves.

  28. Regina says:

Bob, as I read your comment, a poem that I’ve shared with you all twice came back to mind, and I want to share it again because it fits with this blog topic.

    IN MEMORIAM A. H. H (Tennyson)
[I only shared a portion of the poem with you all]

Strong Son of God, immortal Love,
Whom we, that have not seen thy face,
By faith, and faith alone, embrace,
    Believing where we cannot prove;

    Thine are these orbs of light and shade;
    Thou madest Life in man and brute;
Thou madest Death; and lo, thy foot
Is on the skull which thou hast made.

Thou wilt not leave us in the dust:
Thou madest man, he knows not why,
    He thinks he was not made to die;
And thou hast made him: thou art just.

    Thou seemest human and divine,
    The highest, holiest manhood, thou.
    Our wills are ours, we know not how;
Our wills are ours, to make them thine.

    Our little systems have their day;
They have their day and cease to be:
They are but broken lights of thee,
And thou, O Lord, art more than they.

    We have but faith: we cannot know;
    For knowledge is of things we see;
And yet we trust it comes from thee,
A beam in darkness: let it grow.

  29. wpleasant says:

Wonderful and very appropriate poem to the topic. One wonders what was happening in Tennyson’s life that inspired that poem. There are some wonderful stories that reveal the genisis of poems and hymns honoring God.
I think Bob’s recollection of his view of the stars from the shed roof and his reaction to it’s author validates Mart’s referenence to Dean Ohlman’s “two Books of creation.” I remember Job’s reaction after God spoke to him from the whirlwind.”My ears had heard of you before, but now my eyes have seen you”.

  30. DerwinB says:

I never thought of Creation as a book from God before but it is. If Satan is the great counterfeiter. Then it is no wonder he would want to counterfeit the book of Creation with the Theory of Evolution.
Also, I too have often thought of the poor tribal man who is born a sinner and doomed to an eternity in Hell without hearing the written Word of God. How could God hold him accountable? But God has given him the book of Creation. Therefore God remains just in condemning him to eternal destruction. Think about it, Noah didn’t have the written Word of God and yet he was saved by faith.
    Great thought provoking article.

  31. mlj says:

I was fortunate to have an earthly father who taught me to appreciate the wonder of God’s creation. He often spoke of the awesome wisdom of God’s plan to provide for man’s future needs. I distinctly recall him pointing to the cars traveling down the highway behind our home and explaining how God had arranged it so that even the death of living things from centuries past, provided for the needs of mankind in our era so that we could have the oil from which we created the gasoline and the plastics and minerals to fuel and create the cars we use today. We would walk in the woods of my grandfather’s farm and my Dad woould point out little seemingly insignificant things in nature and explain their significance in the ecosystem or the complexity of our bodies, the solar system or even small insects and how man was still struggling to understand so many things God had created with just his word. I have often sat for long periods studying some facet of God’s creation, in dumb awe at the sheer magnitude of how many variables God must have considered in setting things in such a delicate balance to keep our fragile universe running. After more than 29 years in engineering and technology, I have seen just how feeble our supposed great advances still are in comparison. Mankind is still only scratching the surface in following our father’s creative performances.

    foreverblessed,

Your post reminded of a Bible lesson I watched by Chuck Missler on Genesis and creation. He quoted the same Scripture about how all things were made by Him and for Him and how all things are held together by Him.
He was talking about atomic structure and although the subject is quite deep Missler with all his education and knowledge; has a way of making things understandable. He stated that scientists have no idea what holds the protons together in the nucleus of an atom; so they call them “Gluetrons” without even being able to prove their existence. It’s really odd that according to scientific law things that have the same “charge” such as negative and negative; repel each other. Same with positives repeling each other. So just how do positively charged protons stay together to form the nucleus of an atom? I believe it is Someone that holds them together; and not something. If they repelled each other the atomic structure of everything in existence would come apart. When I thought that over I was in awe.

  33. Bob in Cornwall England says:

    Bruce,

I to have studied atomic structure and it is amazing how protons stick together.
The electron in orbit kind of makes sense as it is -ve and atracted to the +ve protons. But all those protons like little magnetic north poles all trying to repel is something else.
I heard it explained that it is like valcrow. when the protons get so close to each other that they are nearly touching then a strong sticky force takes over.
Jesus said I am the true vine and that we are to abide in Him and He in us. Unless we are grafted to that vine and become one with it we will wither and die. I guess it is Jesus who is grafted to the protons and holds them all together. Also strange that when you split a neucleous of protons they always split by half 4 become 2 + 2 and 8 become 4 + 4 etc.
There is a beautiful simetry about nature that can be predicted by pure math. We always know of the existence of something by mathematics way before we find it in nature.
    Now that is Awesome.

Bruce, I did alittle “Gluetron” presentation myself this morning at 7:26 only to watch it disapear into that blank page…Mart certainly has the time down right for the problem.

problem is that is when I have time to be on the computer before getting busy with my day.

I guess we know who isn’t supposed to be commenting between 7 and 8 in the morning….

I also have many of Chuck Misslers commentaries and recomend him and his wife to any serious bible students.

Not that RBC doesn’t also have an excellent program, but the Misslers are different than anything else out there, especially if you are into the science of things.

Yesterdays quote in the daily cipher puzzel is this. “For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.” Vincent Van Gogh.

  38. Bob in Cornwall England says:

    Peg.

I will be praying for your apartment.
I need prayer for mine as well, as I am finding it difficult to get the rent together.
We all need to trust in the Lord more and more.

    Bob

  39. poohpity says:

    irishdoo, I was thinking;

    OT: God’s will revealed
    NT: God’s will fulfilled

  40. pegramsdell says:

thanks bob and steve. you got my prayers too.

  41. pegramsdell says:

you’re right bob, trusting is the thing isn’t it? that seems to be the hardest thing to do.

  42. foreverblessed says:

If anyone has a prayer for my sister, she is in trouble. Tomorrow we will go to her, on her birthday, to suprise her, with flowers and cake. She was a christian, she sais she believes in Christ, but she wanted help right away, and went to a regression therapist, 7 years ago. Things got worse and worse.
I had received a scipture for her 6 years ago:
I will lure her in the desert and speak to her heart. Hosea 2:14 (my own translation)
So today I can pray Psalm 119:107
    I have (she has) suffered much;
preserve my (her) life, LORD, according to your word.

  43. foreverblessed says:

    About the book of creation:
God laid the way a mother prepares a party for her children, doing it full anticipation, as an echo of who He is:

    devotional two listeners january 19
he Anticipatory Love of God is a thing mortals seldom realize – Dismiss the thought of a grudging God.

None ever sought Me in vain. I wait, wait with a hungry longing to be called upon; and I, who have already seen your hearts’ needs before you cried upon Me, before perhaps you were conscious of those needs yourself, I am already preparing the answer.

It is like a Mother, who is setting aside suitable gifts for her daughter’s wedding, before Love even has come into the daughter’s life.

The Anticipatory Love of God is a thing mortals seldom realize. Dwell on this thought. Dismiss from your minds the thought of a grudging God, who had to be petitioned with sighs and tears and much speaking before reluctantly He loosed the desired treasures. Man’s thoughts of Me need revolutionizing.

Try and see a Mother preparing birthday or Christmas delights for her child – the while her Mother-heart sings: “Will she not love that? How she will love this!” and anticipates the rapture of her child, her own heart full of the tenderest joy. Where did the Mother learn all this preparation – joy? From Me – a faint echo this of My preparation – joy.

Try to see this as plans unfold of My preparing. It means much to Me to be understood, and the understanding of Me will bring great joy to you.

  44. foreverblessed says:

    Another example, if I may:
the longing of the human heart to be loved for itself (for who one is) is also laid in our hearts by God: Yes, the creation is also a book of GOd.

This is found in the same devotional God calling, by twolisteners, on february 6.
My sister longed for the love of her husband, but communicated it quite difficult. It is the longing of love that brought the seperation. But Jesus love is greater then any human love. Alltough I pray that their marriage might be reconciled. A wonder. Our God is a great GOd, He brings reconcilition through Jesus.

  45. saled says:

I have always wondered about the millions of Christians down through history who didn’t have a Bible or couldn’t read anyway. They depended on hearing the word of God from a preacher. I bet God often spoke to them through nature also.

  46. Regina says:

    Good Evening All

Hope all is well with you all today.

    wpleasant (2-8/5:39 am),
I know what was going on in Tennyson’s life when he wrote, “In Memoriam A.H.H.” His closest and dearest friend, Arthur Hallam had died suddenly at the age of twenty-two. Hallam was also Tennyson’s sister’s fiance, and was considered the most promising young man of his generation. When Tennyson lost Hallam’s love and support, he was overwhelmed with doubts about his own life and vocation and about the meaning of the universe and humankind’s place in it.

Steve, A fellow blogger suggested (can’t remember who), and I second that suggestion that you should “highlight” your comment, press “Ctrl C” to copy it, and then press “submit comment.” If it doesn’t “send” you would have already saved it by copying it, and you would only need to “re-paste” it and click “submit comment” again. I hope this info. is helpful to you. I always save my comments this way.

I bought a journal yesterday so I could write down information that’s important to me, and I’ve included all of the prayer requests mentioned in this blog. Peg & Bob (Cornwall) I will be praying for you regarding your apartment situations, and I would like to request prayer regarding my back door. It’s a good back door (at least it was a good back door), but due to all of the cold and hot weather, the wood has begun to rot on the bottom of the door. Two small chunks fell off the side (bottom, left) the other day, and I’m asking for prayer that God will provide the money for my husband and I to get it fixed or get a new back door. Also, please pray that my husband won’t waste the money on frivolity. Thank you. :-)

Still thinking about the “thought for today” in ODB the other day: “We need prayer the most when we have the least time to pray.”

Sunny and 56 degrees today in Texas, but it’s gonna be 28 degrees tomorrow with a strong possibility of more snow.

  47. Regina says:

Forgot to mention in previous comment that I’ll be praying for your sister too, foreverblessed. :)

  48. SFDBWV says:

Thank all of you for your suggestions as to how and save my thoughts from disappearing into cyberspace…I am sure they all work well and in due time I will try them out and see which works best for my quick set at the computer.

foreverblessed, I join aith others in prayers for your sister…Regina, I am sure a door will be provided for your house, and putting in a request with our provider for your need.

O8 degrees this morning, it makes the snow crunch under foot…I like the sound of it. 18 deer in the yard fighting over the feed, in nature the strong survive and the weak are left to die….

If you look too closely at the natural way of things, it can also be seen as cruel.

I like to think of Christianity as the un-natural way of things, as we see them here in a fallen state of existence.

    Goodmorning to all

    Steve

  49. pegramsdell says:

Thank you Regina. God is so good and faithful. I pray that Our Father will bless you with a new door and whatever else you have need of or desire. And also foreverblessed’s sister as well.

It is like 34° right now. Way too cold. Can’t wait for spring (summer here). lol….

It’s kinda funny in a way, but yesterday one of the apts I looked at, they had a problem with the door, getting it opened, and I heard after I left that they had replaced the whole door. weird, huh? Maybe that’s the one for me.

Talking of creation and God’s 2 books of creation. You know its such a coincidence that this topic has come up when the other day some1 was asking me why I believe in the Bible. In one of my friends facebook profile on religious views he wrote that and I quote “look at the trees outside and ask them to which God they serve and that’s where I belong too”.
And I thought of man and how much wisdom he’s been granted more than any other creature that God created and wondered why of all beings he’s failed to recognize that God is the maker of heaven and earth period and any other explanation is just in vain. I guess it’s coz we have sinned and fallen short of His glory to the extent of not realizing that he truly lives.
Talking of creation here in Kenya its just very sunnny and I always marvel at how he makes it snow in some places and others sun shine. I do stand in AWE.

  51. poohpity says:

faithkemei, I think people want to explain away some thing there is no explanation for.

  52. Regina says:

    Good Morning All

I hope you’ll all have a great day today, and if you feel at some point during the day that you’re having a bad day, remember that our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, is still on the throne and all we need to do is cast our cares on Him because He loves and cares for us!

Steve, I can only imagine what the crunch of snow under your feet sounds like. I like (some) strange sounds too, like the sound (and feel) of bubble wrap popping between my fingers. You’re blessed to be able to experience nature at home, up close and personal. Have you ever seen a deer die in your yard? Do you have any pets?

Your comment, “If you look too closely at the natural way of things, it can also be seen as cruel.”

brought this Bible passage to mind (esp. v. 21)…Rom. 8:20-22, NIV
    20) For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21) *that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.*
    22) We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

It’s very cold in my city today. 25 degrees right now, and it just stopped sleeting. It’s gonna snow later on this morning, and get progressively colder. Believe it or not, schools are closed today in my city and surrounding cities (when the weather is bad in my city, surrounding cities seem to get worse weather).

  53. stevevg says:

The process of growing spiritually and becoming mature in our our walk with God, is not automatic. It takes a deep committment and a daily renewal of our faith to really understand the greatness of God’s creation. Certainly the promises we find in the Bible are being fulfilled or will be completed as God allows the future to continue. However, there is coming a day when the Biblical promises of both old and new testiment will be completed. The world today is in a state of confusion and the current crises in Egypt is only the beginning of the events that will occur according to the Bible. Christians should not be worried as these calamities take place and are seemingle reported on a daily basis. Jesus said that these events will come about before my heavenly father will complete the end of this place called the earth. In the book of Mark we are told to watch and be in prayer as the final events of this planet are completed. God is faithful and his will be completed in His timetable. The number of earthquakes and changes in weather patterns are just a sign of God’s plan for this place called earth. We as christians are to be in prayer and are called to praise the name of the Lord as He deems the events that will come to pass. The message today is to put your faith in God and be faithful to Him who is really in control.

    Hi, interesting article:

We know that God is Creator and Savior by His dealings with Israel. Her return to the promised land after the Holocaust in 1948 is unprecedented in the annals of human history. Israel is the timepiece of prophetic history … a cursory study of the book of Daniel reveals this to us today … especially those of us who are saved and waiting for the imminent harpazo action of
Jesus. What other nation has Jesus ever done such exploits for? …

” Then my mind goes back to Isaiah. ”

    Amen and Amen … and

2 Chronicles 20:7 “Did You not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel and give it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever?

Yes the Creator is Jesus Christ, Who is Jehovah the Son and He has said to Abraham:

And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
    Genesis 15:5

Jesus is at the door friends …

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

    Luke 21:28

    God bless you and Maranatha

  55. foreverblessed says:

Thank you all for your prayers. We visited my sister and we had a lovely day, it was sunny in Belgium, and a bit of a sense of springtime. I pray that God will finish what He started in my sister.

Stevevg, yes! I was thinking, if God upholds the universe by the word of His power, why do I not believe more, the spiritual word of His power He gave for our lives, and for the history of the world, Matthew 24
Standing on the promises of God my Saviour,
so we are quiet, and still and praising God, no matter what!
    thanks confidential for Isaiah 40

  56. tominfredericksburg1 says:

I have searched out ideas presented in scripture. The word of God is alive. God is eternal. His word is eternal. Having learned those, I asked the question to God “what were you doing before you made the creation?” His answers, he is eternal, his word is eternal, his word is alive. The words “In the beginning” are for humans not God. God did not have a beginning.
Concerning the creation, HE is not a stagnat creator having created ALL once, then stopped. HE is alive and continues to create. His word is eternal, so before mankind existed ALL those words in scripture were there being played out somewhere in the creation.
God can create new everyday, a new star system, solarsytem, whatever. Know HIM and you can see far into the future and the past.
