Apocalypse has Begun

DSC02524

As Creation Groans

In everyday usage, the word apocalyptic represents horrific events that preview the end of the world as we know it.

When used of the Bible it suggests a cosmic unveiling, intervention and new world order.

Normally, we think of apocalyptic events as future. But, according to the Gospel, the greatest of all revelations has already begun.

Jesus’ horrific suffering, death, and triumphant resurrection marked the end of the age.

When he allowed himself to be crucified to bear the full consequence of our rebellion, prophetic visions were realized. An age of Law came to an end. The reality behind the symbolism and ritual of a Temple-based religion was unveiled.

The extent of the carnage was revealed but not understood. When Jesus died at our hands, we died. Our identity in Adam was forever consumed in the fire of our Savior’s love.

In hearing and accepting the Gospel, we wake to find that we’ve survived the worst that could have happened to us— or our God. When Jesus was buried, we were buried. When he rose, we rose—to eternal life… and to a new world order already begun though not fully realized.

It seems now we are understanding more clearly what the absence, although it is not really much different now just different times, of God in peoples lives results in. But you could not tell anyone who can not see that. Do people really care any more about the harm they cause or did they ever really care?

Are we ready? Are our lamps filled with oil? Who’s side are you really on and can anyone tell?

Yesterday on tv a young man who survived the massacre in Orlando shared how he survived and then helped a badly wounded man all the way to the hospital. He kept telling him he was going to be OK, while bear hugging him to help control the bleeding wound in his back as an officer advised. Finally and with reflection he said to the man, “Gods got this, you’re going to be OK”, after talking about his own miraculous survival. To know that God cares and that we’ve “survived the worst” truly does awaken us to a new world order Mart. Thank you for another hope-filled message to ponder.

    Good Morning BTA Friends —

Indeed, the revealing (apocalypse) is rolling at an amazing rate! When godless people loudly complain about the prophetic Word of God, then what Jesus describes as “signs” of the culmination of history are unfolding.

Heard a BBC interview with a noted philosopher yesterday. His utilitarian approach to issues of life and death — treatment of the disabled — the right to life — and other ethical issues, is fully atheistic. He is currently an honored professor at Princeton University. His ideas are embraced by the wealthy and powerful.

Jesus says “Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.” This is evident in the attempted removal of any consideration of God in Christ from the public forum.

It seems to me in these days the branches (Jesus’ disciples) cling more closely to the vine — the Lord Jesus Christ. As you say, Mart, disciples of Jesus “have died and (our) life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Col 3:2, 3, 4)

Agreeing with you over here Pooh, Jesus followers need not hide out or pretend we are in step with the surrounding culture. We are not. This age is coming to its fulfillment. Jesus says:

“But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

    Joy all day,
    Maru

A Prayer for Peace (Helen Steiner Rice)

    Our Father, up in heaven,
    hear this fervent prayer:
May the people of all nations
    be united in thy care,
For earth’s peace and man’s salvation
can come only by thy grace
And not through bombs and missiles
and our quest for outer space …
    For until all men recognize
that “the battle is the Lord’s”
And peace on earth cannot be won
    with strategy and swords,
We will go on vainly fighting,
as we have in ages past,
    Finding only empty victories
and a peace that cannot last…
But we’ve grown so rich and mighty
    and so arrogantly strong,
We no longer ask in humbleness-
“God show us where we’re wrong”…
We have come to trust completely
in the power of man-made things,
    Unmindful of God’s mighty power
and He is “king of Kings”…
We have turned our eyes away from Him
    to go our selfish way,
    And money, power and pleasure
are the gods we serve today…
And the good green earth God gave us to peacefully enjoy,
Through greed and fear and hatred
    we are seeking to destroy…
    Oh, Father, up in heaven,
stir and wake our sleeping souls,
Renew our faith and lift us up
    and give us higher goals,
    And grant us heavenly guidance
    as war threatens us again
    For, more than guided missiles,
all the world needs guided men.

  6. bubbles says:

Sometimes God is seen as “love” and His holiness is forgotten. He is love but also a consuming fire. I think we have forgotten his mighty holiness and wrath. Look at how God struck people dead for doing wrong. He could do that today if He chose. Hebrews says He will never leave us or forsake us, and yet the Father forsook Jesus when he died and Jesus said, “My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me?” The Father did something to His own perfect Son that He would not do to us because Jesus chose to obey the Father. When I connected those two verses I realized something profound about Jesus’ death that I didn’t know before. It humbles me to think of the wrath God poured out on Jesus that I deserved. I cannot understand that.

  7. SFDBWV says:

What marks “the end of the world”? Once again if you want to know facts not opinions you have to go to the Scriptures to find your answer.

My quandary as of this writing is just how much effort I want to put in searching out Scripture to back up what I may have to say. Knowing that there are many books already in print quoting Scripture on this subject if already know how long it would take me so I won’t.

First of all there is no end to the world, only mentioned at the end of Revelation is the comment that God would make a new earth and a new heaven.

From Chapter 4 on in the Book of Revelation are the details to the “Tribulation” of earth and mankind. !/3 of all things including people die at the hands of God’s wrath. Read it for yourself, don’t take my word for it.

In Chapter 19 of Revelation Jesus the Christ returns. From chapter 4 until chapter 19 are the details of what is going on in the world. This being just in Revelation, Matthew 24 gives detail as well as to when Jesus will return; special attention to Matthew 24:42 as Jesus tells us to watch because we don’t know what hour He comes. There are many numerous verses that give us glimpses of the world around us relevant to His return. The thing is some people don’t want to hear them because they are quite condemning to the moral condition of the world.

The fact is that as Mart said the end began when Jesus went to the Cross, but as the time for His return draws closer, like a funnel events and time move faster and faster together as they quickly come to their conclusion and time runs out for the lawless immoral behavior of the world.

It is my belief and hope that the “Body of Christ” “Christians” are raptured out ahead of the 7 year tribulation period, as at that time all eyes and all prophesy turns to the nation of Israel and the events surrounding her up unto the coming of Messiah to save her from annihilation and set up His Kingdom on earth.

Many don’t believe in the rapture, but it will certainly mark the beginning of the end as it has been known.

    Matthew 26:27

There is a new world order alright, and according to scripture Satan right now is still driving it, but we are not to be aligned with this world that we now see, which to me is much more like ungodly and disorder.

I want to share something that hit me yesterday, it is off topic, so I post it in the past topic, this one, and then it just happened that they talk about blog guidelines. Oops!

There are many christians who take the lead, and instructies in how things are, but who themselves are not yet healed from past hurts. I know that this is so, as I was raised in a legalistic church, where they tried to fix our inner man through the law.
“Keep the law and everything will be well with you”
(To be honost, I am not saying now: break the law. It is through the Cross that we are healed!! That precious Cross)

Later you find out that the so called leaders, were very hurt themselves.
But now, when I am walking through Christian land, I find it true for many churches.
We ought to pray for them, hurt people who lead others.

And then there is another thing: if you have been as long time Christian, and know that you are safe in Jesus’ arms, but are still hurt by other christians, then read the book:
    Crucified by christians

And learn that through the blows that we get from our fellow Christian, that by them our old man is crucified!
It is our old man that us hurt!
If you think that is not true, then go to Jesus for comfort, the work of the Holy Spirit is Comfort.

But as you read the beautitudes, you see there is aprogression in them. From comfort to, in the end- joy because of persecution.

I have an idea that we are trained to rejoice when attacked by enemies, through the hurt by fellow christians.
Learn to see the gold that comes out of them:
Being dead to our old self! And living in the newness of life that is de n Christ!

The first Century christians were badly persecuted, taken into prison and waiting for there execution.
The ones who had already died to self could rejoice, and sing.
Blessed are those who have died the first death, on them the second death has no effect.
Like Paul and Silas were singing in prison.

We are children of God, what can man do to us?

Sorry for the typos, I am typing on my phone. The auto correct comes up with many other words. I should proofread better.
Typing on the phone, I can sit on the cauch, or what is the word for the big there sitter? Typing behind the computer means sitting behind a desk.
I was hit by Oswald Chambers June 10-13
Letting self go, and be totally Jesus’.
It has been a struggle for me, surrendering totally to Jesus, not just bits and pieces of my life.
It takes total surrendering, but, as I said, I held on to lawkeeping. That looks being obedient, but instead of totally relying on Jesus leading me, He being my Light and my Lamp, I look to the law for guiding me, and I am still in charge myself, and I keep Christ at a distance.
And so it COULD be Jesus says: I do not know you.
(Again, I am NOT saying we can break the law. But the law should be used wisely. The law is for the lawbreaker, the adulterer.)
    1 Timothy 1:8-11, 1:3-7
Oswald is urging us to live in the newness of life, and so is Paul, 1 Timothy 1:12-17
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and Glory for ever and ever. Amen

  22. jeff1 says:

When I hear the apocalypse has begun I should feel dread and yet I do not because over the years so many have warned of how God will bring disaster to this world and yet in my heart I cannot see it because why would you allow your son to die in the most excruciating way to save a dying world and then destroy the world.

There is something not quite right with this thinking. I think God transforms us in the world so that we see Him at work and when I see Him in the world it renews my faith.

It is not from my perspective I need to see the world but from God’s and He wants to save the lost.

I fear I had started taking God for granted and I did not like what I had become.

I had a friend of 95 years of age and she taught me what it was to have faith in the true context of what faith should look like.

I had worries about my son and I asked her to pray for him because I believed God would answer her and that is because I seen in her a faith that I had never seen before in anyone.

My son has turned a new leaf and I know it was Ruth (God rest her) whom I have to thank for intercessory prayer.

Ruth made me realize what it was to be humble before God and I believe I had forgotten what that was like.

This poem from Helen Steiner Rice makes me think of Ruth as I would say she had truly a heart for God.

    A Thankful Heart

    Take nothing for granted,
    for whatever you do
    The “joy of enjoying”
    is lessened for you-
For we rob our own lives
    much more than we know
    When we fail to respond
    or in any way show
    Our thanks for the blessings
    that daily are ours…
    The warmth of the sun
    the fragrance of flowers,
    The beauty of twilight,
    the freshness of dawn,
    The coolness of dew
    on a green velvet lawn,
    The kind little deeds
    so thoughtfully done,
    The favours of friends
    and the love that someone
    Unselfishly gives us
    in a myriad of ways,
    Expecting no payment
    and no words of praise-
    Oh, great is our loss
    when we no longer find
    A thankful response
    to things of this kind,
    For the joy of enjoying
    and the fullness of living
    Are found in the heart
    that is filled with thanksgiving.

  23. foreverblessed says:

    Thanks Jeff, for that song!
In church today, Psalm 100 was read:
    A Psalm of een thanksgiving.
It is actually the only Psalm which says
    “Psalm of Thanksgiving”
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth!
So we pray that all the earth will find Jesus as their Savior!

  24. foreverblessed says:

    Thanks Mart for this topic.
It has occurred in my mind, for a brief moment that Joel 2:30-32 was about the day Jesus hang on the Cross.
Then the sun was turned into darkness and the moon to blood.
That great and dreadful day of the Lord, was when Jesus was left alone there on the Cross.
As someone had written on this blog that God will never leave us, but left Jesus alone on that Cross. What a dreadful day that was! ( I cannot find it here, was it the last topic?)

The fear for the Apocalyps hang all over my life in my youth, at the church I grew up in, where they preached more about prophecies of the end of the world, then preaching that Jesus had already overcome the world! It is a spiritual fight. When we no longer fear our enemies they have lost grip over us.
Come what may, we have already died our first death, that of our old man, we are His, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

If I pray “Jesus come” I now pray it for my owm heart: Jesus come totally in my heart. Let me be totally yielded to You. So that your Kingdom is shown on this little piece of land I walk.

Let God’s will be done on earth, starting with my own life, then I pray for all of us on this blog, then for all christians.

Would the world not have looked better if christians were totally yielded to Jesus’ will?
If we would obey the beautitudes? And if a thief would ask us a blanket we would give him our coat as well? So as to save His soul? And not save our own posessions?

Jesus cannot come now, we christians do not yet show the world the beautitudes!

  25. foreverblessed says:

You could say, but God prophecies must come true!
Well, God told Moses He was going to destroy Israël! Was that not a prophecy of God? And yet, what did Moses do? He started to plea for them!
God’s prophecy did not become true because of the pleading of Moses!

  26. poohpity says:

For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with human hands, which was only a copy of the true one in heaven. He entered into heaven itself to appear now before God on our behalf. And he did not enter heaven to offer himself again and again, like the high priest here on earth who enters the Most Holy Place year after year with the blood of an animal. If that had been necessary, Christ would have had to die again and again, ever since the world began. But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice.

And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.

    Isaiah 5:19 NIV; Amos 5:18

    2 Peter 3:1-18 Jude: 1-25 1 Peter 4:1-19 special attention to 1 Peter 4:1, 2 and 1Peter 4:12, 13

Also remember that evil begets evil, if you walk in darkness expect to stumble.

    Apocalypse has Begun

dear forever, how could faith and dying to self not be apocalyptic? we are talking about the death of something.

3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

our guilt reaches all the way to heaven. heaven responded with a Savior. should we not respond to the Savior? we die by taking up the cross, then we live. the cross is the narrow gate. i have to say it is difficult. it is recorded Jesus dropped the cross three times, i have to admit i have dropped it more times than i can count. He told us to take it up daily.

    Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

  29. street says:

6 For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does.

6 For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.

6 For this reason, the Good News was preached to the dead. They stood in the flesh before the One Who judges so they might live in the Spirit as God wants.

6 For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.

made alive at the cross by the Holy Spirit according to the will of God. the Kingdom has begun, waiting and serving till the King’s return.

  30. street says:

this is the day of the Lord you want…..

“Behold, days are coming, says the Lord,
When I will effect a new covenant
    With the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
    9
Not like the covenant which I made with their fathers
On the day when I took them by the hand
    To lead them out of the land of Egypt;
For they did not continue in My covenant,
And I did not care for them, says the Lord.
    10
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
After those days, says the Lord:
I will put My laws into their minds,
And I will write them on their hearts.
And I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.

7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

    Wow! and Thank You, Lord!

  31. joycemb says:

Forever thinking about Moses intervention and how Abrahams servant said “and I, being on the way the Lord led me”. Moses was a type of Christ I think. Planned for by God and His purposes. This reveals to me that God is and always was in control of people, places and things at all “time”, though God is not constrained by “time” as revealed in the gospels also. He chooses events within our “time” reference since the fall. “Take heart, I have overcome the world”. Jesus alone is our leader to the New World of Heaven and Earth. Here but not here yet.

  32. poohpity says:

The apocalyptic events seem to be like this butterfly story.

One day a man walking down a path saw a butterfly cocoon that was about to open. As he watched a small opening appeared in the cocoon. The man sat and watched for hours as the butterfly struggled to make it through a little hole.

Then it seemed to make no progress and had gotten as far as it could go.

So the man took a pair of scissors and opened the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily.

But it had a withered body and was tiny and its wings were shriveled.

The man continued to watch as he expected that at any moment , The wings would open enlarge and expand, To be able to support the butterfly’s body.

Neither happened, In fact the butterfly spend the rest of its life crawling around with shriveled wings and was never able to take flight.

What the man in his kindness and good will did not understand , Was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny hole was natures way of forcing fluid through the butterfly’s body into his wings so it would be ready to fly when it achieved freedom from its cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in life, If we were allowed to go through our lives without any obstacles it would cripple us . We would not be as strong as we could have been and never able to fly.

I asked for strength…I was given difficulties to make me strong
I asked for wisdom…I was given a problem to solve
I asked for prosperity …I was given a brain and brawn to work
I asked for courage ..I was given an obstacle to overcome
I asked for Love ….I was given troubled people to help
I asked for favors…I was given opportunities

I received nothing I wanted, But everything I Needed

Live life without fear, confront all obstacles and know you can overcome them.

Remember it is the pebble in the brook that makes it sing. However God is love and never gives us bad things to make us better. We live in an evil world, what God seems to do is help us by strengthing us through Christ and making all things work out for those who believe.

  33. jeff1 says:

I live life with fear, but I confront my fears and it is God who overcomes them for me.

It is in knowing my own weaknesses that I know I need God’s help, as Street says, I believe it is broken vessels God uses and I cannot remember when I have not been broken.

I do find that history repeats itself and I am not sure whether I am broken by heritage or my own deliberate fault or God’s providence.

I used to depend too much on others for spiritual guidance but I have learned that those who talk the talk usually have their own agenda and so now I listen to those who have the wisdom to do rather than talk.

I like to believe that while this world has much evil in it I must look for the good in people because when I stop doing that then the adversary has surely won.

I must also remember that good people do bad things just like bad people do good things and so people are complex and not for me to figure out but either get along with or give them over to God where I cannot.

I believe that maturity means that I now know when to hand things over to God rather than believing I can change them myself.

I believe I spent my life trying to play God rather than listen to God, something my earthly father knew and tried to tell me but I was not ready to listen.

Each must grow at their own pace and I can do more damage forcing spiritual growth on someone than if I take a step back which is what my father did with me trusting that in God’s time I would get there.

I understand now the difference in knowing about God and getting to know God personally, the latter is painful especially for myself who was very far of the mark in knowing God.

I am thankful that by getting to know God myself has given me hope that He is much more merciful than I first thought He was.

  34. joycemb says:

    Good morning friends,
After a rough day yesterday woke up thankful for another day and when I think of all God went through for me and you on the cross am also grateful. The apocalyptic event of atonement has shattered the status quo as surely as night turns into day.

Rejoicing in my salvation today as always,
Blessings prayed for on your new day/evening whichever the case.
    Joyce

  35. SFDBWV says:

With the timing of the subject and the absence of what isn’t said it appears that the events of the world around us is to be ignored as we strain to talk about the apocalyptic world without why it is apocalyptic.

The unfeeling and senseless murder of 49 people in a gay nightclub in Orlando Florida isn’t what begins the “Apocalypse”. It is the gathering force and presence of the “anti-christ” that awakens us to the fact that “time” is running out.

No sensible person cannot see that the elective options presenting themselves in American politics is evidence that the rise of the anti-christ in the world is accelerating and should not be deceived.

Why is any of these things important? Because Jesus said to be “watchful” and prepared for His return, that these events would precede the coming 7 year ‘tribulation” upon the whole of the world.

Are we here not to discuss world events? Not to discuss the Scriptures picture of the world as amoral and like the days of Noah filled with evil of every kind? Are we not to discuss how the very church would become corrupted with every sort of carnal thinking and action?

Are we in the final days or not, are we the feet of iron and clay or not; is it important for us to be aware or not?

If it is important to us then what should be our focus? As time runs out on the lost souls in the world around us, should our prayer time increase, our evangelical efforts increase? Or should we “bunker” in and wait it out?

    Steve

  36. poohpity says:

We can discuss all those things but what would the benefit be if it does lead one to be about the business of sharing the Gospel? Jesus did not even know the day or the hour that God the Father had set forth for those things to come to pass, so what would be the benefit to sit around and guess about it.

We could be like chicken little running around saying the sky is falling OR making disciples and planting seeds while trusting God with our future knowing that He wants to gather all His children under His wings.

So is it better to try and figure out the prophesies which more often than not we come to understand in hindsight or be an example of putting our trust in God. That just takes time away from sharing the Good News so that more will come to know and believe in Jesus Christ so that they will be saved when the destruction of this world, as we know it, comes to pass.

So we wait in eager expectation of His second coming but not a passive waiting, a waiting in doing the work we were given do during that waiting process, serving God and others and sharing the Gospel of Grace. If we are so concerned about this being the end times which it is and if we believe that then why are we not sharing with more people the message of Jesus as their Savior?

So we can talk about all the signs and discuss it all we want but doing nothing so that more are saved in those end times means nothing but just talk.

  37. poohpity says:

People think this is bad now but what about the millions that were killed in Rwanda by genocide, or the hundred of thousands murdered during the Nazi regime, or the genocide of 300 thousand in Syria and Iraq. Living in the USA we are not aware of what is happening all around the world in others places because we are sheltered and can not see beyond our own yards. There is oppression and atrocities in East and Middle East that would make anyone with a heart cringe and sob in horror but because we do not live it or see it give no thought to it. People do not have clean water to drink, no food to eat, are enslaved to governments and dictators, stoned to death and the list goes on but a blind eye is turned because it is not in our backyard but it is happening in God’s yard.

So look at all the prophesies and study them it will really help all the people suffering right now.

  38. joycemb says:

At Bible Study this morning we talked about prophecy and end times and some of us agreed that each generation has their own view and thoughts about when the end of this world is coming. Paul certainly thought he or his friends may be participants. One thing we can be certain of though is that as mart pointed out BIG CHANGES occurred at the cross, and on that we can all agree!

  39. oneg2dblu says:

Very true, but, that same old serpent that God allowed in the garden, who changed God’s words to fit his own agenda, still crouches by the door today, still tempts all mankind who show no fear of God.

He still parades around saying look at me, look what I’m getting away with in broad day light, and join me in doing the same, be free of the words of God that would only entangle your freedom to do evil whenever, and whenever you please, to walk however you want and to enjoy and celebrate yourself (Not God) in doing so.

“So look at all the prophesies and study them it will really help all the people suffering right now.”

Maybe studying the prophesies is what we should be doing, but, will it put food on another starving man’s plate, will it will give him clean water, and take away all his troubles as his wife is raped in the streets, as his children are dying in the nightclubs?

Do we then study for them, or for us?

“One thing we can be certain of though is that as mart pointed out BIG CHANGES occurred at the cross, and on that we can all agree!

Big changes in man’s behavior, in Satan’s behavior, or God’s?

    Just thinking…

  40. oneg2dblu says:

Keep falling back on these true and simple words… ” If nothing changes, nothing changes.”

When good people do not stand against evil, evil has its day!

    Gary

  41. poohpity says:

Doing the word’s of God are much better than talking about them and especially when one does not understand for sure what they are even talking about. When one is doing good and their motives are true and right then they will be less prone to doing evil or speaking evil of others. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Edmund Burke

So while we wait for Christ’s return we have been given much to do but obviously far to many just spend time talking and doing nothing which is a sin in and of itself and shows who has control of their lives.

  42. poohpity says:

Faith without works is DEAD. Works does mean following the law, it means doing good deeds.

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?

17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

18 Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” James 2:14-18 NLT

  43. poohpity says:

oops Works does not mean following the law.

  44. oneg2dblu says:

The Law is filled with nothing but good deeds.
So, following the Law and doing good things are the same.

thinking the pharisees thought they followed the law. Jesus said do what they tell you to do because they know the law, but do not do what they do. thinking their hearts were far from God, no love. no wonder the law and the prophets the temple and the nation were set aside in the New Covenant. looking for the return in Glory. thinking in Revelation there is no temple because,
” 22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.”

Do we then study for them, or for us?

    neither…..

  50. street says:

subject of suffering has been mentioned. in the west we don’t have to look very far to see it. it is ignored just like other parts of the world. those who face it begin a quest that ends with God. thinking of hannah and job both were provoked and responded in prayer and search for help. they found grace and mercy in time of need. i guess the hard part is recognizing need and admitting it. neither hannah or job sinned, but were sourly afflicted for their good.

  51. oneg2dblu says:

While rowing under the low bridge a few days ago, I greeted my pigeon friends in the usual manner and received the usual reply.
I cooed at the hens as usual, they perked up as usual, and the male came forward on my left, chest puffed up, returning my calls.
So, nothing had changed along those lines, however, there was a change in his behavior.
This time he flew over to the hen on my right and cooed innocently to her and approached her nest then he reached down and grabbed a piece of her nest and flew it over to the one on my left, placing it delicately under her.

I immediately thought to myself, that is something I had never seen before and he again repeated the same.

I then knew he had an agenda.

I was disturbed to see what was going on, but there may have been laws in place that I did not understand, as nature plays out her law, the Survival of the Fittest, as always giving way to the most fit.

I went on rowing daily but to different places, and today I returned to the low bridge to find the hen on the left sitting diligently on her nest, and the nest and hen on the right no where to be seen.

Nature had taken its eventual place, and my aching initial thoughts were confirmed, “If you keep picking on the weaker party, eventually they will fly away.”

I’ve seen it happen here as the blog police continue to pick away at some who they feel are weaker, they pick, pick, pick, until their chosen advisory no longer can stand it and they just move on.

    If nothing changes, nothing changes!

  53. oneg2dblu says:

Gosh, I never thought of it that way.
To me, God’s Words are of the highest calling and the greatest substance.
    But that is just me.

  55. SFDBWV says:

Yes Joyce every generation thinks that theirs is “that” generation that sees the Christ return and there is no shortage of people making that comment.

However there are very explicit details found in Scripture that presents the world view leading up to that time and if we are Scripture literate we are informed and of value then to inform the world around us.

No one believed the warning of the coming flood either until the rain came.

All died except those in the Ark.

The subject of the coming Apocalypse has great discussion possibilities. Seeing that this place (BTA) is a place to share thoughts and ideas I would think it an excellent opportunity to have an interesting and informative discussion.

Yes as Christians we should be feeding the hungry, clothing the poor and encouraging the brokenhearted, but we are not able to do that here in this blog, but what we can do is have fellowship and exchange ideas and information.

The Minor prophets contain the most information as to what is occurring to Israel and what the outcome leading up to the Messiah’s rescue and they are very precise in information.

What is missing is the exact starting hour of when the 7 years of Tribulation begin, but Daniel fixes it at 7 years. Most rapture believers believe the hour of that 7 years begins at the rapture.

In fact chapter 4 verse 1 of Revelation sounds as if it is the hour of the rapture, because beginning with Revelation 4:1 the church is never mentioned again.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 KJV gives that hour of our being called up or raptured. What gives us a clue as to when that might occur is found in the nation of Israel being returned to her homeland and becoming a nation in 1948. Luke 21:5-31 KJV gives detail of the world and Luke 21:32 KJV states that “This” generation that sees the aforementioned things shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

That generation is you and I.

Particular attention given to Luke 21:24 “until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” Gentiles have a prescribed time limit and then *kaboom*the rapture comes and the Apocalypse begins with the culmination of Christ’s return (Luke 21:27 KJV).

Want to discuss the Apocalypse or not?

Hi Gary, I take long breaks from here because it often becomes more of a hindrance than a help. The old adage that one bad apple can spoil the whole barrel comes to mind. There’s nothing you can do to change the bad apple, but that bad apple can contaminate the rest. Please don’t let that apple get to you, Gary…pray for it.

  57. joycemb says:

    Hi Steve,
No thanks, I studied Daniel and Revelation in college and that was enough! I am familiar with your viewpoint though.

  58. narrowpathseeker says:

Steve, I also believe that WE are the generation that will see the return of Christ. 2nd Timothy 3:1-7 pretty much is the way I see things going. I know I have changed my devotional over to “Teach me to Pray” and hope that I won’t be in the number of those “forever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth”..

Steve, I am glad to see that you must have had a little break in your busy schedule to be able to post twice in the same day!! :-) I hope your schedule allows for even more breaks and a little rest for you. have a pleasant and Blessed evening.

  59. oneg2dblu says:

narrowpathseeker… I’ve outgrown the letting it get to me phase.
Been there, done that, and survived just fine.
Thank You for your thoughts about my being outdone or trumped.
I had to take several forty day breaks where the Lord cared for my spirit and matured me to see when I’m being attacked, to “Resist the Devil and he will flee from you.”

But my recent exposure to what was happening in nature recently, right before my eyes in the picking apart another’s place of rest, or nest, brought to mind how often we can not fully understand another’s constant agenda presented here recently as well.

So we search for change in many things in ourselves and others whether they like it or not is not the denominator that drives us, it is seeking change that drives us.

I also know for sure, WE are closer to the End Times then those who are in the bible expressing their timely feelings of living in the last of days before the return of Christ.

    Come Jesus!

  60. street says:

in the New Covenant it is God that changes the heart by His grace and mercy not by the works of the flesh. paul warns of beginning in faith and switching to the law. they are two different mind sets. law leads you to repentance it doesn’t lead to love. the cross leads you to love.

  61. street says:

gary said,”street.. I guess they never even made it through the first good deed, oops, commandment.”

that is correct, never kept the first command or any of the ones that follow. did you ever think about what made joseph daniel and the others such great men and women? it was their faith…. not keeping the law.
the righteous shall live by faith.

    faith hope and love….
the way, the truth, the life.

if the Son makes you free you shall be free indeed!

free to sin …..i think not. free for what???

  62. street says:

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

thinking the sons and daughters that have the Holy Spirit in them are like Christ.

the counterfeit know scripture but don’t know God and His Spirit is not in them. nor can they please God. like i said earlier we can take credit for nothing.

study work and obey all you want but when you look at the law your ladder is not going to get you where you want to go.

steve said,”Yes as Christians we should be feeding the hungry, clothing the poor and encouraging the brokenhearted”

true….we read about this in the difference between the sheep and the goats. i just wondering where,”go and make disciples” comes in ? did we not enter into their labors?
thinking we have to become a disciple before we make them or it’s and on the job thing?

many are called few are chosen comes to mind.

get dressed there a wedding feast coming.

  65. poohpity says:

Yes we have to be disciples first if one is not a disciple then why would we want to make any? Only a disciple would have that desire. But it is on the job training. It is a life time of learning but the easy part is just sharing what Jesus has done, is doing in our lives and what He means to us. A disciple means a student of Jesus. There are some who are followers but following seems to be much different than being a disciple that is costly requiring submission and surrender. Letting go of wanting to be on a pedestal and putting Jesus there.

  66. poohpity says:

Most times how we make disciples includes taking care of the needs of others to show them the love of Christ and that he cares about all areas of a person’s life.

    law vs Torah
there are millions of man made laws and can only drive my car badly and fill out my tax forms so so. no one ever comes around to help me, pretty much on your own till some one hauls you off to court for an infraction.

the Torah is more like instructions. it comes with a helper. if you don’t have a helper you are on your own and under law. thinking of the woman at the well not much on law, but was looking and waiting. help did come.

  71. jeff1 says:

Is keeping faith wanting to be raptured from this earth or is it accepting that God of our good times is still God in the bad times!

Did Jesus argue with His father about dying on the cross, no, He did what He had to as instructed by His father.

“Though He slay me, I will trust in Him”.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

The bible tells us that God knows the end so I must look to the Lord for my strength and wisdom because discussion can cause confusion but Jesus looked to His Father in Heaven and remained faithful to the end.

If He had wanted His father to save Him from His fate then we would be not having this discussion today.

  72. SFDBWV says:

Another old adage goes like this; “Ignorance is bliss”.

In the study of Scripture there are two options, one to study it the other to ignore it.

Once a person becomes a believer in that the Man Jesus of Nazareth is God and that by accepting this they are safe from facing judgment as a result of His death on the cross, is there really any reason to look further into the Scriptures?

Well, one thing I have learned in my lifetime as a Christian is that there is a great deal of misinformation relevant to what it means to be “a believer”.

As a result many people are easy prey to cults and to being deceived.

Without the knowledge of what the Bible actually says concerning any topic the only “voice” you might hear is either your own of that of someone else you may “think” knows what they are talking about.

I will leave you all this morning with this “thought” John the Baptist worried that Herod’s blood would be on his hands if he did not warn him of his sin, and died as a result of being concerned for this horrible man.

We as Christians will not go through the great tribulation or the Apocalypse as it is called by some because we have chosen to be in the safety of the Ark of God, Jesus the Messiah, but those remaining behind will. Jesus said of John, “Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” Matthew 11:11

Being a disciple of Christ and proclaiming the Gospel also comes with compassion for the lost and warning them of the consequences of their choices; just as John did.

When you put on the armor of God, without the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, you are defenseless against the enemy.

Very well, a bunker mentality it is then.

    Steve

  73. poohpity says:

Would that then mean to be a disciple of John the Baptist? Jesus seemed to say I know what you have done but I offer grace, mercy and forgiveness. John could not offer that, he seemed to offer to turn to God while you still can then directed people to Jesus, who is the Word of God, our weapon against the evil one in the person of the Holy Spirit.

  74. poohpity says:

There is no safer place to bunker than in the shadow of His wings.

When and through what circumstances is up to God. But with Paul I eagerly wait for the full realization of this new world order. Along with the pleasure of meeting all my faceless friends on this blog!

Have a blessed day all in joyful expectation!

(sorry guys, do not take it personally)
It was Jesus in us, that was the idea.
And Jesus had to go through the Cross, to be able to save us. So that our old man i crucified in Him.
Yes. Gary, you seem to say that you feel picked at. But I feel it the other way round, I say that I follow Jesus, and you write: do we have nothing written on our forehead? Is Jesus nothing????

Relax man, you are not picked at at all, only how you interpret things, I ask questions, if you feel picked at, I am sorry.

  79. street says:

thinking of john and the cross.
we are all given a cross to carry, every man woman and child. the thing about the cross is you can carry voluntarily or against your will. thinking the broad road would be carrying it against your will. Jesus does save us but what he requires of us is the things we can do. not the things we can not. there is a wisdom and humility in this, we are to find in doing it for Him. everything we do is passing away. the work of God and for God i don’t see passing away anytime. i also think when God is working in us we are unaware of it.

john grew up under the Old Covenant he did not see the great price to ratify the new, even though mentioned in the Old Testament, but he did see the Kingdom come and rejoiced and herald it’s arrival. the difference between the New and Old is the permanent indwelling of the Spirit, knowledge of the Son even though all these things were written about. i guess the greatest of all gifts john would long for is the removal and cleansing of sin that hindered his relationship with God. thinking Old Testament saints would have loved to be around with john and see the Messiah. yet Jesus says the saints in the Kingdom have it better than being born of a woman, could it be born of God? God made their names great too in the old. looking for His return. thinking grace and mercy quite active in the Old Testament. this verse make me tremble, ” where more is given, more is expected.” God gave me very expensive gifts. thinking of expensive love. i wonder if it is best wrapped in joy.

  80. jeff1 says:

Steve, I cannot disagree with you that there is a great deal of misinformation relevant to what it means to be a believer.

I listened to many who studied the bible all disagreeing on it, so in the end I decided not to study it as I believe I am saved by the blood of Christ and not whether I read the bible or not.

A person can come away just as misinformed from reading the bible if they read it with the intention of interpreting it to suit their teaching which unfortunately many do.

You seem to know from the bible that you will not go through the tribulation and you are very blessed to know this but I have family and friends who are not Christian and I would want to remain with them. I trust God, that right up to the end He will save lost souls, because many have been misinformed by teachings that are not of Christ, and these teachings have not come from God but misinformed men.

yes there is a lot in there, even though israel knew the law it did not help them pull together what was happening right before their eyes. even after the resurrection, many still could not pull it together. the nation was removed and the people scattered according to prophesy. yet the promises of God are not invalidated. God is not man that He should change His mind or the son of man that He should lie. but oh what a Son He did send into the world! the Spirit of His Son remains they are One. yes God saved the best for last. the light shines brightest in the darkness.

This is why I came on as an alias to show it could be done. Clearly knowing the word is not enough because knowing what makes a Disciple, and then not acting at all like one, is to me, double-minded and mutually exclusive.

Those who throw dirt do not realize, it is “they themselves,” that are loosing ground.

    Just thinking….

  93. oneg2dblu says:

My lesson from today’s row in nature…
It was very telling today that the morning wind was directly blowing to the East, as the flags displayed along US 1 on my way to my launching grounds were all pointing that direction.
After launching and proceeding south along the Indian River with my intended point of return viewed clearly in the middle of my mirror although it was three miles away, I rowed.
Set my mark astern as well, and just stay on it.
The wind was gently nudging me of course, ever so undetectable at times, yet constantly innocently nudging.
I fall into a ritual of 18-20 strokes per minute building my base mileage up as an easy deposit into my current fitness level if you will.
I am praying as usual, knowing I am blessed to be doing what I love, and recognizing it is God who provides for all my needs.
I look through my mirror again, I’m off course!
Correction is now needed for I took my eyes away from where they need to be, constantly reevaluating my position.
My grand effort at holding a straight line course of progress has been thwarted.
I refocus on my destination and find a correction of about five degrees should do.
    I correct and continue on.
Again falling into a blissful place of breathing in and out, applying pressure on the oars and moving the boat along.
Gusts come and go, waves come and go, thoughts come and go, and again, I’m off course!
This time fifteen degrees of correction will be needed.
I reset and relax into the zone again.
Several minute later I’m into the closing approach of the Melbourne Bridge, but I’m off my mark again, and now thirty degrees of correction is in play as I fight to bring my craft under the bridge for my turn around.
Now, I will tell you, regardless of my intention on the onset of my journey, I am reminded by nature, you must keep your eyes on the prize, or pay the price for not focusing enough on where you are headed.
Lesson learned, now I must put it into practice, again and again, returning to the elemental rules which I learned, lest I wander.

    Good Evening All —

Stopped by for a moment to look in on my BTA buddies. It’s been a trying day. Needed a good word. Wow! Apocalypse has begun. As depicted in the painting, the bison is down and the wolves and bear are howling over the carcass.

    Oh, my.

gary what i meant when i said,” don’t give up.” i meant not to give up on faith, hope, and love in God. you can have faith hope and love other things but they will disappoint you just like an idol.
thinking Jesus said his followers would be persecuted. after looking a little at church history, persecution, is at the church door. it is even crazier when violence breaks out. thinking it made it inside. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.John 1:5

paul wrote about approval. make sure it’s God and no other. paul could show you the disapproval of man on his body. paul died many times so that Christ would live. Luke 9:23

  98. SFDBWV says:

There is a somewhat famous depiction with caption connected to Father Flanagan’s “Boy’s Town” that shows a young boy carrying his younger brother on his back. When ask by Father Flanagan if the load of his younger brother was heavy, the boy’s answer was “He aint heavy father, he’s my brother.”

The effect is immediate and usually humbling.

Once we become a follower of Jesus where is the base of our life choices from then forward?

Are our concerns always connected to our own comfort and goals or is our concerns then centered on others?

There is a huge study concerning the coming Apocalypse and Tribulation all of which is interconnected to almost every area and story in Scripture. The Biblical saga is stories entwined into other stories, lives entwined into other lives event after event all leading to the end of the world as it became after the fall of man.

With Jesus resurrection began, even though several had already been brought back to life by the mercy and purpose of God in earlier stories, “The end” began with the resurrection of Jesus and concludes with Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and an end to death and hell and a new heaven and earth with us as coheirs of the coming Kingdom.

We cannot be expected to carry our brother on our back on our own journey until we first have a journey anointed by God as a result of accepting Jesus and believing God.

Viv your loving concern for your loved ones is very honest, keep trusting God and moving forward toward Him and like the young boy I spoke of earlier, you might not even notice the load you carry as it is a labor of love.

  99. joycemb says:

Street said, “Paul died many times so that Christ would live”. Isn’t that what we do when we “carry our brother” as Steve said. To die to self interest? Could this be the beginning of true unity under the law of Christ? Could this be love?
Ted M Gossard wrote a very good article in his Jesuscommunity blog on WordPress today. (He’s a writer with ODB)

Will be thinking about what is my part in promoting peace and unity on this blog today. Blessings all.

  100. jeff1 says:

Just thinking Steve about what my hairdresser said to me the other day about us mothers and how in childbirth we suffer pain that is equal to fracturing 20 bones at once according to research.

Yet love for our children means we forget the pain we had in getting them.

I believe you are right the load you carry becomes lighter when you realize it is a labor of love.

I am not struggling with loving my brother but with loving my enemies and whether I should see them as my brother!

They are saying the right words and that means I should trust them and accept they are changing their ways but if I am being honest with myself and God there is doubt as to whether I believe their words when their actions do not look to align with their words.

I have never expected anyone to trust me until I have earned their trust yet my enemies expect us to trust them when in the past they have committed foul deeds and have never expressed regret for them.

I believe I have to trust God with this as my enemies are faceless to me and only He can know what is in their hearts.

I just don’t know if God will blame me for not forgiving my enemies when they say they have changed but I cannot lie about it either for what is in my head I cannot deny and the trust is not there!

I can only find peace by leaving it with God, I can let go of my hatred for them but the difficulty is in ever trusting them again and I believe it will take time to trust again because in time their actions or non actions will speak for themselves.

  101. street says:

jeff said,”…but with loving my enemies and whether I should see them as my brother!”

i don’t think we are to see them as bothers, but as ourselves. that’s what we were! an enemy of God.

jeff said,”I have never expected anyone to trust me until I have earned their trust….”

i would not trust anyone who did not love me, and it is difficult to trust Jesus much less another. Jesus earned my trust by doing what i could not do, love myself or me. Jesus bore on himself what i had earned out of love for me. this is love that we bare up under it. only God can do this not man. we need the Holy Spirit for a reason. thinking of the yoke again.

jeff there is a difference in trusting your bother and forgiving them…there is a difference. Jesus would not trust man because He knew what was in man. don’t think we should trust man or ourselves but trust God with the portion of faith and strength He has given to us. abiding in the Holy Spirit comes to mind. thinking the daily activities keep us grounded so we will not be so heavenly minded we are of no earthly good.

  102. foreverblessed says:

Street, thanks for posting that. I was going to write, that forgiving is something else then reconciliation. When the person who has violated you sees how wrong he was, then there is way for reconciliation. But if not, there is only forgiveness, meaning that we do not want vengeance, that we leave the vengeance to God.

Steve wanted some discussion on end time prophecies.
He talked about the 7 weeks of Daniel.
There are some bible interpreters who say that half of that week, the 7 days have already been.
That halfway the week Dan 9:27 “he will put an end to sacrifice and offering” And that was Christ hanging on the Cross.

(In that sense you might also say, Apocalypse has already begun.
Even before Jesus hang on the Cross, as the 3 and a half years were also the span of HIs ministry on earth.)

So that is why Revelation speaks of a time times and half a time, being the rest of that week, 3 and a half years.
Rev 12:14 where the woman is kept safe. Here it says, she is not taken up, but will fly to the desert, with two wings of a great eagle (maybe a big airplane?)

It might not be so as I wrote here above, just adding to the discussion.

I like it best when we encourage one another to be one in Christ, attached to the vine. Being strong in Him. If God is for us, who can be against us?
When I was younger we had these bible studies on prophecies, but they overshadowed the preaching of us being one in Jesus, through faith, us following Him, (so not being lazy doing nothing, but obeying Him in what He says, the beautitudes etc.)

  103. foreverblessed says:

There are two bible verses that keep coming back to my mind:
Street gave June 14, 9.48 am
1 Peter 4:6 judges according to man in the body,
but live according to God in regard to the spirit.

Isn’t that a great promising bible verse?
What is the depth of its meaning?

The next verse is also good for this topic, others have given it here already:
The end of all things is near, therefore be clear minded and self-controlled (which we have to ask from God, as it is a gift of the Holy Spirit, we cannot work it out ourselves, we must humble fact the fact we cannot, and ask for it, God loves the humble!)

    so that we can pray.
(What do we pray for, that what is according to God’s will, that is that many will come to salvation)
And above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:7-8

We can study a lot, know a lot, but the deepest things of life is that we love one another.
How that love is showed, is something we have to ask for:
Our Father in heaven, show us how love is showed on this blog, give us love, and wisdom, in Jesus’ name we pray.

Let’s pray in faith, that Jesus is alive, and working, then we have what we pray for. Faith is vital in our connection to God, we abiding in Him.
He working what we ask for, because we believe!

  104. foreverblessed says:

The other bible verse that keeps coming back to me, is the one Pooh gave on June 14, 9.08 am
    Hebrews 9:28
He will appear a second time….to bring salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for Him.

To those who are eagerly waiting for Him!
Suddenly I see the Father in heaven, and looking down, when shall I send Jesus, are there enough people who are eagerly waiting for Jesus, just have a look. No not enough yet. My children should do some more Gospel bringing work.

  105. oneg2dblu says:

street… again we agree, we can not give up, or, we must hang on to the crown, they both mean the same thing.

What is the crown supposedly made of according to the scripture I posted?

Is Following Christ all about promoting unity on a blog site?

Is Discipleship all about promoting unity on a blog site?

Is sharing truth all about promoting unity on a blog site?

    Just thinking…

  107. street says:

thinking of what you said forever about being clear minded. clear minded that we could come into the presents of God in heaven by faith. the pure in heart shall see God. yet are flesh could not stand in God’s presents and look at Him and live. i think praying for the lost is good but praying to come before God and spend time and heart with Him is the best we could ask for like when david ask who could come into Your Presents Lord? david knew he could not go into the Holy of Hollies. he saw what happens to people who tried and hear about other who disobeyed in His presents. david was sustained because of his faith and trust in God, not in himself. Jesus brings us closer to God than we could ever imagine. the gate to the Temple in Heaven is Open. few find it. enter in by faith in Christ.

the door will be closed soon …..some have been going in an out.

  108. jeff1 says:

Thank you Street for your post but I think the difficulty is I do not want to see myself as an enemy of God so I try very hard not to be and failing leads to guilt and condemnation of myself and my enemies because I see them as making it more difficult for me.

Accepting that God has forgiven my sins does not stop me from feeling guilty when I do sin and I believe that is because I was brought up to keep the 10 commandments and I cannot seem to stop trying to please God this way.

I also look at other believers and believe my portion of faith is small in comparison and I seem to spend my life feeling guilty instead of joy.

My family believe that God only exists in my had and believe that’s what makes me crazy but I know in my heart that God is real but the younger generation are looking to Science and not God for answers because of modern society turning its back on God.

Like foreverblessed, I believe I need encouragement from other believers but even my best friend told me I was a weak person when we fell out one time and I always end up feeling guilty for who I am or who I am not.

I know Christ as won the victory for us but I seem to be very much following in the footsteps of my mother and brother who lost the battle with their mental health.

As you say our daily activities keep us grounded but if it where not for the motivation of others I would be finding it increasingly difficult to be any earthly good.

I need to be heavenly minded in order for me to see a purpose to go on for I seem to be more of a hindrance to those around me than a help most times.

  109. jeff1 says:

Correction: My family believe that God only exists in my head…

You are the light, the truth, the way
You are my Saviour this very day.

jeff said,”Accepting that God has forgiven my sins does not stop me from feeling guilty when I do sin and I believe that is because I was brought up to keep the 10 commandments and I cannot seem to stop trying to please God this way.”

dear jeff this is a slippery slope to navigate and i will try. how can God forgive your sin? is it not the cross? is it not the blood that was shed for you and others? this blood should cleanse your mind and give you peace with God not fear or guilt. the 10 are to bring you to God not be your god. remember tutor in Romans. sure we struggle till the day appointed by God. God oversee everything. walking or pleasing God in the Spirit is a new way of doing things, the old man doesn’t want to go easily, but will go. Jesus ask us or commands us to deny ourselves and take up our cross daily and follow Him and no other. makes for an interesting church. we do this daily hit or miss. it great when we connect and it encourages me on, the missing part not so much. remember to look closely to Jesus when you miss. thinking the hitting part was because i was paying attention. the real fun begins when He test us on our progress. He is always doing something new, there will no end to the increase of His rule or peace. Isaiah 9:7
There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.

    thinking not the hand man.
flee from sin jeff it easily entangles and trips up just like love for the world that is passing away. thinking the law will pass away too, but not till all of it is fulfilled. even i have to pick up the cross daily and it is not fun. the fun begins when we find our joy in God. or joy in love of God.

I listened to another person trying to figure out the prophesies about who?, what? and when? of the end times. According to his study, he felt the USA was the Mystery Babylon talked about in the end times. He was predicting that the destruction would come from Russia before 1/20/17 by nuclear weapon aimed at the middle of our country. The sky is falling?

Jesus came first and ended the age of the law and according to Jesus before the end of our ages now He will appear again and call His own to Him again. So possibly before looking for all the signs of the sky falling we can make sure we know our Savior and then whatever befalls us we can have peace and share that peace with others.

Yes, I agree with you Pooh, it is best to get to know Jesus personally!
    It is all about Jesus,!
And thanks too Joyce for that beautifull Celtic prayer.
It says indeed that Jesus is everything to everybody.
Each in our specific way, Christ is all we need.
And Christ is unique to everybody.
That’s why there are so many differences, our needs are not all the same.

Following Christ is first and foremost trusting Him, knowing we are His dear child, coming at rest in Him.
For only when we are totally at rest in Him can we be effective in reaching others, Christ in us reaches others, the inner well that springs up in us.

That’s why it is good to retreat, and come to rest, in fact we could that many times a day.
And then what we do: you were telling that you kept company to a man who has problematiek with alcohol!
Great thing! God bless you, and the man too

1 Corinthians 13 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

    The Excellence of Love
13 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body [a]to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 [b]bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of [c]prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I [d]became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror [e]dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the [f]greatest of these is love.

Loving the Celtic Prayer, Joyce. It should be cross-stitched and hung on the wall. Thank you. :o)

In the apocalypse nothing is hidden — all will be revealed — even shouted from the roof-tops. And Mart is proposing, on the basis of revelation (apocalypse), that it is immediately.

As stated in the original post:

“The extent of the carnage was revealed but not understood. When Jesus died at our hands, we died. Our identity in Adam was forever consumed in the fire of our Savior’s love.”

We have no identity except in our risen Savior.

    Joy all day,

  122. poohpity says:

I believe all things are common to mankind and it is not that we need different things but we all the need the same thing, a relationship with God to see us through the difficulties that each person faces. We all share brokenness, it may present itself differently but it seems a shared state of every human being.

  123. poohpity says:

It seems to just come down to honestly admitting it.

  124. jeff1 says:

I think it is admitting I need God more than He needs me and human nature being what it is it is only in brokenness I recognize my need.

street… I was trying to make common ground, but, you will have non of it, so you word play with me again, saying that the crown I shared with you in scripture, which was meant to be shared for our common good, you turned into saying I am trying to hold on to it, just like the nest.

Sorry to disappoint you, but my faith was not in that nest, nor was it my idol.

You will have to do better in the future if you want to have any serious dialogue of any common value.

Right now, your only playing with words again, and tearing things apart.

    Gary

  128. oneg2dblu says:

Perhaps we are just mis-reading each others words.

  129. poohpity says:

    Acts 17:25 NIV

The crowns we are given are rewards from God when we get to heaven and then those who realize that is was through the strength of God that we were even able to be rewarded with them that is why we lay them before the throne of God.

And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,
“You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
    For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

  130. oneg2dblu says:

As far as felling guilty after sinning, what a joy to know that your conscience is not so seared as to be thinking you just will get away with it, and with no consequences.

At least your conviction after sinning is real, or the Holy Spirit that lives in you, still convicts, and is alive and well in you.

I remember a Christian friend telling me how he picked up lady who clearly needed a ride and during the ride she was sharing her needs, wants, with him.

When he dropped her at where she wanted to go, he also took out his wallet and gave her some cash, fifteen bucks or so.

She then judged him by saying is that all you can spare?

He went from feeling blessed to be able to give her a hand, to finding only that she would be ungrateful, because she wanted even more.

The moral of the story, “You just can’t please them all.”

Be Blessed to know that those who you try to help here, knowing they can not accept it, you have done your part.

Just Sow the Seed, and do not concern yourself as to where it may or may not fall, or if you will ever see the result.

You Sow by Faith, that the word will not return void, for to me, that is your part.

but, Discouraging others from their sowing is not your part.

    Just thinking…

  131. oneg2dblu says:

I am speaking only to the profession of being a Disciple.

  132. poohpity says:

Being a disciple is not a profession it is life style.

There are those who sow the seed of God’s Word and they would do good to never stop but only the Lord can make the ground fertile to receive it and make it grow. Only the Lord can open the ear of the deaf and the eyes of the blind. If one focuses only on the hard ground they will get discouraged but if they focus on the Lord they will never be discouraged. Leave that hard ground in His hands and move on.

  133. street says:

gary said,”Right now, your only playing with words again, and tearing things apart.”

if i could tear something apart, it could not stand when tested with fire from above.

like i said before i do not know what you are talking about. it seems to me you understand what i am talking about.

gary after reviewing your three question….
what is the price of unity?

  134. street says:

43 I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44 How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God? 45 Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope.

  135. street says:

    John 6:37
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.

  136. street says:

    John 6:44
No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.

  137. street says:

    John 6:50
This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.

  138. street says:

    John 6:52

  139. street says:

    John 7:18
He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

  140. street says:

gary said,”You will have to do better in the future if you want to have any serious dialogue of any common value.”

why would i want to spend some time with you when i could spend that time with Dad? Dad does require things of me to meet with Him yet you have not spelled out what you require? ” away from me i do not know you.”

I started to write it out, on paper!
    Thanks!

Foreverblessed, yours is an interesting look at the prophesy of the 7 year period of the anti-christ as given in the Book of Daniel.

It is interesting to see how different denominational thinking tries to make prophesy sound as if it fits their differing views of the coming “Tribulation”.

The two that stand out in my memory are the “Watchtower Society” and the “Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.” Both deny a rapture and both have attempted to make themselves nondependent on government for their survival during the period of the Tribulation. Sort of a survivalist mentality.

In fact there are three different views about the rapture; one that it occurs at the beginning of this 7 year period, second that it occurs at the halfway point (3 ½ years) and thirdly that it not occur at all.

All cite Bible clues or verses to base their belief.

One thing is for certain, the end is coming and it has a beginning and an end and more importantly a Divine purpose.

    Good Morning All —

Perhaps it bears mentioning once more that the world’s view of the apocalypse is that of a sudden, horrible crisis.

The Greek word, apocalypse, entered the world’s vocabulary out of the Bible. The revealing of God’s will is the major theme of Scripture — it is the ongoing reality of God forming a people for Himself. God’s moving has bearing upon the whole cosmos.

It may be that the Hollywood spin on “apocalypse” has confused the thinking of even those faithful to Jesus. Some maintain that we are currently experiencing tribulation.

Whatever phase or season it is, our calling is to worship the Lord – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and continue to share the Good News entrusted to us.

    Blessings,
    Maru

  144. cbrown says:

Maru, thank you. I do need to write out the chapter and will carry it in my pocket until i learn it. I would appreciate everyone’s prayers.I am going to a graduation this afternoon at a faith based program for inmates that are over 50.It is a 18 month program. Please pray that the inmates will look to God for there salvation and will be a witness of His lovingkindness and mercy.

  145. SFDBWV says:

Knowing that most of you watch the news I am sure you have seen the FBI under scrutiny for what looks like fumbling the ball in the Orlando FL murders.

So with that thought in mind I give you a story that happened here several years ago.

The bank manager at our local bank called me one morning and ask if we were having any surveying work done. I said we were not.

He continued to say a man came in the bank and ask how many employees there were and what were the operating hours, then proceeded out to the parking lot and took what seemed to be a GPS reading then getting in his car and driving off with no explanation to the bank as what he was doing.

They had taken down his license plate number and make of car so I was able to locate who he was and got a phone number.

Upon calling him he explained to me he was hired by a “Phoenix” corporation out of Raleigh NC to go to every Bank in WV GPS identify their location, their hours of operation and number of tellers on duty.

He himself operated a real-estate company out of Williamsburg VA and checked out as legitimate. However the company that hired him did not exist.

So I called the FBI and gave this information to the Pittsburgh PA, office, the Clarksburg WV office and finally to the Frederick MD office as each one took my call and information but told me I needed to call the next.

For over one year I awaited some kind of follow up to my inquiry but heard nothing from the FBI. So I turned the information over to my Congressman. Within days of his receiving my letter to him the FBI called me and said they had no record of my calling them or the information I had given. And closed by saying that the real-estate agent checked out as ok. Closing they said any investigation they conducted concerning the matter was their business and they were not required to share any information with either me or the bank.

I hope you all feel better knowing that your government is at work protecting your interests.

    I know I don’t.

    Steve

  146. poohpity says:

cbrown, will be praying with y’all. That was forever not Maru who was memorizing the same chapter.

Steve, that is nothing new the FBI had been called about suspicions before 9/11/01 too. Most of those involved had been here from middle school planning that attack and had expired student VISA’s. They were in their 20’s when it happened and were living with host families in the midwest until they came here in Scottsdale to go to aviation school. They all had connections with others here who had small established businesses so this plan to destroy our way of life has been going on for a long time. During the Obama/Clinton/Kerry administration there has been almost a million from Muslim run countries that have been given green cards from; Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Saudi, etc. So that is a lot for just the FBI to keep track of and they have open investigations going on in all 50 states.

  147. foreverblessed says:

Yes Steve, if I was raised on your church I would have developed the interpretation of your denomination. With the same bible in hand.

I shall just give what my old church thought,
And they gave bible verses with it and it all sounded OK to me at the time:
Just 3,5 years of tribulation, the other half of the week has already been, as I wrote. We had to flee to a place in the wilderness, with two great wings. Airplane maybe?
Then at the end of the 3,5 years Jesus would come back, with the voice of a Trump, (1Thess 4:13-18) so probably on the Day of Trumpets ( Lev 23:23-25) (or Hosh Rosanna in Jewish language), and then we would be taken up into the sky to meet Jesus. There we would have the dinner with Him, and all the Saints that ever loved, and then we would return to the earth to rule the thousand years, but not before Satan was binded, that would be on the Day of Atonement (Lev 23:26-32, 16:1-34), and then the thousand year reign started which was portrayes by the Feast of Tabernacles.
At the end of that time Satan would be released, and start trouble all over again, but then there is another day left in the Holy Days, and that is the Last Great Day, which could be the time all people ever lived, will be resurrected Rev 20:11-13) and where Jesus would shout:
    John 7:37
On the last and greatest day of the Feast, (Leviticus 23:36-44)
Jesus stood up and said in a loud voice:
“If a man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
Whoever believes in Me, streams of living water will flow from within him.”

So I do not really know if that is at all a good interpretation, or not.
Do we have to take Revelation literally, or is it a metaphore?

I do not worry about it, I could have all knowledge, and know all prophecy, and yet have no love.

I do know I have to abide in Christ, and be united with Him in love.
    Today is the Day.

Anyway, I so like that verse of John 7:37, imagening Jesus shouting, and it was on a Holy Day, He knew His Words had implecations for ages to come.

God always hopes 1 Cor 13:7

  148. joycemb says:

Forever thank you for sharing John 7:37, it certainly is a day brightener! I was reminded the other day that the Bible is not to be used as a weapon; it is so much more :-).

Maybe Mart could write about that some time?

  149. joycemb says:

On second thought, maybe that’s been on his mind all along?

  150. joycemb says:

disclaimer: The above are just my random thoughts I am not thinking of or pointing a finger at anybody but myself.:) I’ve always considered myself a slow learner, and still prone to falling back into my old ways.

  151. street says:

thinking the Bible is not a weapon.
thinking the Bible is a weapon against evil or rebellion against God. it is best used against ones own heart. thinking Matthew 5. thinking of the promise of abundant life in Christ Jesus. thinking of the song of Moses Deut 32.

  152. poohpity says:

Joyce, Mart did write about that before. One of those such times was under the title “Questions About The Book”. If you look over to the left of the page there are some words all scattered around one of them says, “Bible” in bold lettering just click on that it will bring up several discussion related to the bible.

  153. joycemb says:

Agree street but when it’s used against others to condemn, criticize, or put down then it becomes a death weapon, not life. It’s a heart thing.

  154. joycemb says:

It’s hard sometimes to separate my own sad hearts’ agenda from God’s agenda. Sometimes its best to say little and seek God more when pride tells me I’m right, instead of being humble.

I hate it when I feel prideful about something, it’s like eating a chocolate sundae. so good at the time, but experience tells me I know there will be consequences, albeit Godly ones. For my good.

  155. jeff1 says:

Yes, Joyce I too find that silence before God gives me more peace than trying to understand what is sometimes too difficult for me and just accepting that God makes all things well.

I believe God understands me so much more than I understand myself most times.

  156. joycemb says:

Thanks for pointing that out pooh, (although I do know how to navigate this site :-)) but when I said “On second thought, maybe that’s been on his mind all along?” My second thought trumps my first. I am thinking the totality of his posts presume what I said about the true purpose of scripture as opposed to using it as a weapon.
Sorry to confuse you, I was deep in thought not always easy to understand. Sorry.

  157. cbrown says:

Good day all. Thanks Pooh for pointing out that is was Forever not Maru that mentioned to write down the verse I am memorizing. Both of them had encouraging posts close together. The graduation was a blessing. 12 men out of about 85 graduated and they challenged the others to complete the course. The message was on put your faith in God regardless of your circumstances. Now I am going to sit down and write down 1 Cor 13.

  158. joycemb says:

Viv yes God knows everything about us so if we just put our simple faith and trust in Him He will change us as needed. And at His time. Isn’t that a great thing? Guess I shouldn’t be so hard on myself; it’s the “oldest child” curse I think :-)I’ve always been an overly responsible, worrier. (sigh)

  159. joycemb says:

Chris writing scripture down is not something I do as much anymore since texting/blogging has taken over, but thinking I should go back doing it. Its definitely a good way to quiet the mind.

  160. jeff1 says:

I am the youngest but both my parents where over anxious so it would be hard not to inherit it but I do find my medication keeps me well and I have made new friends from doing charity work and enjoy it very much so much more settled than I was recently.

I was before I became unwell a very easy going and patient person but my mental health left me that I can get agitated with people very easily so I try to avoid stressful situations now and I believe I am trusting God more and more and worrying less.

Yes it is a great thing that God does and it is so amazing because I do not understand how it comes about but I know He works through me. You should not be so hard on yourself but I believe we are much better and giving advice to others than we are at taking it ourselves. Strange beings that we are!

  161. oneg2dblu says:

street asks…. “why would i want to spend some time with you when i could spend that time with Dad?”

Hey, its your time and your doing with it, exactly what you want.

Oh yeah… because you have not answered my question about the crown, and because another felt compelled to chime in where they do not belong, which is their pet peeve by the way, telling others they should only answer when asked by name, and unfortunately using some out of context reference from Acts, about the many crowns, I will have to explain it for you.

Repost… Revelation 3:11 “I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”

The (singular word) crown, which I referenced in Revelation, is one of faith.

That is the answer in context.

It was nice trying to talk with you.

But, as you rightly say, your time would be spent better someplace else.

    Gary

  162. oneg2dblu says:

For those who might wonder exactly what I was referring to
    when using the word “profession.”

    oneg2dblu says:
    June 17, 2016 at 7:19 pm
I am speaking only to the profession of being a Disciple.

Profession… is a word rightly used as an act of declaration, which was my context.

Although I must profess, Discipleship is a worthy work!

But, if some one must pick, pick, pick at my words, and wants to take them apart, they can have at it.

Although, their time would also be better spent some place else.

    Just thinking…

  163. joycemb says:

Thinking of love still I came across this verse in my reading tonight. It also ties in with Apocalypse, I John 4:16-17

  164. street says:

34 Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 36 for they cannot even die anymore, because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; 11 in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

    12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

some things are hard to understand, i am still working on this, paul is better at it, i am better at sin.

the modern phrase, already not yet comes to mind.

really like Philippians 3:12 purify my heart with hyssop that i may see You. thinking He is not far away.
