Paul’s strategy for spiritual battle ends with a call to intercede for one another in prayer (Eph 6:18).

It’s a humbling thought… to realize that we are dependent not only on God, but on each another-even to the point that, while being accountable for our wrong thoughts and choices, we cannot take credit for the best of what we think and do

But what should we pray for one another in the middle of this spiritual battle?

One possibility is “The Lord’s Prayer.”

From what the Bible tells us about the devil, he hates all of it.

1. To see God honored
2. To see us longing for and doing the will of God
3. To see us aware of our dependence on him
4. To see us seeking forgiveness for ourselves and others
5. To see us reminded of our need for protection from an unseen enemy.

If you ever feel so overwhelmed by prayer that you don’t know where to begin, trying praying specifically for others by name that they would long to see God honored in what they are going through, that they would be more concerned about God’s will than their own, and that they would see God’s hand of provision, seek his forgiveness, and be protected from the enemy who wants to make wreckage out of their faith.

There are, of course, other ways of aligning our thoughts with the purposes of God.  But seems like it would be hard to overestimate the importance of the issues Jesus surfaces for us… and seeing where to begin… rather than being defeated by an enemy who wants us to either feel overwhelmed by prayer for others…or focused only on the physical concerns of our friends and loved ones.
